I haven't been on the forums in so long and thought the equal length was the way to go going by what Youtube says. Now reading here it seems like it can go both ways, and now Im so confused

Some customers want a cleaner rasp free turbo sound, that's your single others want a deeper mid-tone, almost non-turbo like, that's your equal length

Respectably, this platform sounds embarrassing with anything other than an EL exhaust or a Single Turbo conversion. I'm not even being hyperbolic, I would have not bought this car if the EL offerings were not on the market, they really change the car for the better. I don't even like to cheer for a company or corporation, but Active Autowerke really has a golden product for the F8x platform IMO with the EL midpipe.
Just my 2 Cents.

You're talking about going from OEM to single mid, right?

The extra bit of drone is noticeable in the first 2 - 3 min of driving, after that it quiets down. If you are tuned via BM3 or similar you can bypass the cold start I think. It didn’t bother me enough to do that.

Gonna likely go for the single midpipe then. Looks like I still have the factory setup on my new to me '16 M4 coupe...Sounds like best of both worlds and less risk of drone.

Is the start up drone and general drone reduced with the resonated set-up? I'm drone allergic and have a stock zcp and want to go resonated AA EL

resonated will reduce the sound exhaust, this includes the good sound and if any drone is present

Deleting cold start killed the drone completely. The only time I have ever heard it drone since then is when my exhaust flaps were temporarily unplugged. The flaps are opening and closing all the time to prevent resonance (drone), so if you crack them wide open all the time it will drone with just about any exhaust, IMO. If you delete cold start, and you're planning on keeping the stock muffler and downpipes, I recommend the non-resonated version. Much more/better sound. |

You won't get great sound with a mid-pipe alone. The muffler plays a large role in sound. One option is Fabspeed mid and MPE muffler. This combo is one of the best sounding but be prepared to wait an eternity for the delivery of the mid-pipe if you plan to order a new one.

I just sold my Dinan muffler and ordered something else, and I am not miserable with the stock muffler while I wait. It is 5,000,000,000 times better than the stock midpipe sound. |

In fact, at one point a late model Civic Si came through an intersection just before I pulled away from the traffic light, and the two cars sounded almost identical. I took the downpipes off a week later. |
