I took my car to the dealer as well. They ran diagnostics and sure enough the water pressure was inadequate. So they replaced something called a 'stone filter', retested, and proclaimed the problem solved.

I haven't driven the car since getting it back but will try to keep track of water consumption. On the drive back I turned on the sport display and full throttle, redline runs on an empty highway did show a full 500-ish hp being produced. No idea if that thing is even accurate, though

No significant difference tbh. But I kept running out of empty road to test to my satisfaction

Not enough to fix what? Does he feel power is low? Does he have a dyno to show this? You know they make 493hp even if the water is not flowing. It only decreases 40 hp if intake temps rise. So on a cold day the water may not flow much but power will still be available.

It is amazing how your butt can adapt and things do not feel quite the same after time. Ask Stormy Daniels

So, the water in both yours and Pat's cars isn't being consumed?
Even with the water filter replacement?

How consistently is your sports gauge climbing up or past 500hp?

I noticed that before my water filter change, it would only go near 500hp when downshifting and flooring it.
Only time it would reach 500 previously would be when I ran through the gears sequentially.

Now after the water filter change, it would hit 500+ on the sports display in every occasion

Latest update - Pat took his back in again and the dealer had a BMW factory engineer come to look at it. They replaced the filter again, but they checked codes and found low pressure so they did "some other stuff" and proclaim it's fixed. We are going to Dominion Raceway on Sunday for a quick test to see. If his is good, I'm going to take mine in for the same fixes. What are the chances that a lot of other cars don't have this issue but nobody notices because they don't track their cars? I'll take my Porsche just to make sure he has somebody to chase after.

I'm wondering how long before the pump breaks. Sometimes it's draining and filling 5-6 times consecutively if I'm making stops to the gas station etc on my way home. It seams too excessive. I wish it had a time delay or only drained if temps come close to freezing. I know they have temperature sensors because the system doesn't even run below 5 degrees Celsius.

Hey guys,
Hope all you with water consumption issues have it all sorted out. I just want to throw a pic up of the filter. This way you all have a understanding of how small and fine screened it is. To be honest it is hard to blow through. If there was any sort of break in debris or distilled was not used this would clog very quickly. I purchased a few for myself just for a maintenance schedule I will be starting. Like a human body the GTS need H2O to be at its best. Cheers
Mark

Well I can see now why they call it a stone filter. I saw that on my work order and was confused at the weird name

I took my car in this week for a filter change and diagnostics for low pressure. They claim it's fixed, but they said that about Pat's and he still has power loss after a couple of hard laps. I'll see how my car does and then we can do some comparisons. Pat is so upset - I almost feel sad for him!

So guys... same thing with the M4 GTS I have

I noticed it wasn't going over to +500 on the sports display or consuming water.
I took it to the dealer
Dealer replaced the stone filter

I took it to Watkins Glen this past weekend. Zero consumption of water. My brother was in our E90 M3 behind us and I couldn't pull on him! (That car has HFC/tune and is DCT, but still!!!!)

For the record, my brother and I had car-to-car communicators and were purposefully testing the straight line pull of the F8X generation vs the E9X

Dealer has both my car and Pat's again, this time at the request of BMW. They are sending somebody down to look at them. Maybe they figure something out, or find a place to drill a hole in the tank. Pat's ready to jump off a cliff about this now.

Apparently the previous time it went in for the same issue they were supposed to replace the pump but BMWNA told them to only replace the stone filter

Dealer says my car is fixed, but Pat's needs a whole new pump system. They have 1 in Germany, but won't release it to the dealer, so his car sits in a service bay at the dealer with no plan. Pat is giving up, prepping his M2 to take to VIR next weekend instead. I am on the fence about taking mine, but will probably go with the Porsche instead. Pat is thinking about ending his loving relationship with BMW, but at least his Futura trailer is about ready to pick up from the dealer in North Carolina!! Now he's only missing an M4 GTS track car and tow vehicle...and perhaps a rebound auto brand to fool around with.

I have Pagid RSL29s (Fronts) for the M2 if Pat wants to buy them, LMK; I can bring them with me to VIR
