I think we have to look at the market today - not what people paid before. Today at the low prices these are selling for they are a SOLID deal for what you are getting. You are getting a race track ready, low production volume car with CCB, roll cage, water injection, covered by a factory warranty, etc. for $90k. Thats about $35-40k less than current used GT3's. Keep in mind you are getting an almost new GTS for $90k although those deals are becoming fewer and farther between (less than 500 miles on the car). At these numbers I took the GTS and would do it again. If they were the same price and all factors considered it comes down to preference. I personally do like the rarity of the GTS. Both great cars, but I think were past the GT3 is better blah blah blah when you compare the price today the GTS is a great value. You are buying a brand new car that 98% of the people out there can't even drive to the limit (including myself) and saving $35-40K. If you want the Porsche buy the Porsche who cares, but it doesn't take away from the fact that these GTS' are special and the price is right!

Welcome to the club. I bought mine with just over 200 miles in June. I would love to experience it on the track but I just don't have that kind of money right now. Maybe one day. After the summer, it now has 495 miles by just cruising around town. It is still a blast and it does get a lot of attention. I had an M4 ZCP so I wasn't expecting that difference of it being noticed but it stands out. I have learned to ignore all the people that feel it necessary to come onto a gts forum to say the gt3 is better, and I respect the gt3, and would love to have both!
Please, enjoy! I just put mine in storage for the cold weather...I'm in MD. It's going to be a long winter without it. |

Congrats! Great time to buy with the prices.
Do you still have the E46M3? If so, how do you like it alongside the GTS?

Congrats on the GTS. It's an amazing car. Plenty of time for a P car when you're 60 and fit the stereotype. In the meantime, I say enjoy the hell out of the GTS. I've only ever seen one on the road around here whereas I see a ton of GT3's. The GT3 RS is my favorite car and yes, I will have one someday but for now, I'm in the M stage of life and loving every minute of it.

Yes, I still have the E46. The E46 is my all time favorite M car. I have owned both SMG and manual E46's. The one I currently have I bought about 5 years ago and can't part with it (pics attached). The E46 is a raw car which is why I like the GTS. Its not so refined. When I had my e93 M - I loved the car but felt it was too refined, although the V8 made the car. As far as in comparison - I don't really have enough seat time in the GTS to fairly say much other than it is raw, fun, beautiful and fast. It also feels special to me with all the carbon fiber and special touches. The E46 M3 is a legend. Not many cars 10+ years old still look as good. It is a classic that encompasses what the M brand represents to me. I'm very happy with the GTS and it feels much more powerful to the E46, but most important to me is it brings the raw driving experience I like in the E46. |

Wow, beautiful! That is already a rare car and combo, and will only be more highly desired in the future.
I actually picked mine up just about 4 years ago. 2005 Interlagos Blue Competition Pkg. Love it and hope to keep it for much longer. I've debated swapping my F80 M3 CP to a GTS and it's rare to come across someone who has both to hear whether the E46 is worth keeping. I agree with you that not only does the E46 continue to look amazing after all of these years, but it is such a great experience driving it as well. When you talk about the car being more raw, are you comparing that to an F80 or the e93? Did you consider a (M3/4) CS before you bought the GTS? Mine: I won't crowd your thread, but I have so many photos of the car if you're ever interested. Quote:

Been sick with car envy only a few times. Once back in '05 or '06 when an Interlagos ZCP exited a parking garage in Chicago as I was wandering by with my latest round of tuna fish and macaroni from the grocer.
STILL such an incredible car and a keeper regardless of what you add to the garage.

Your car is a beauty as well! I actually test drove a standard F80 M4 when they first came out but to be honest felt like the car was a little dull. It shifted so effortlessly and I left the test drive thinking it was a nice car, but not something I wanted to buy. I ended up buying a 2015 Corvette which had a lot of character and was a fun car, but became over produced now. Anyways, I decided once the GTS came out it was something that visually I really liked and then now after driving it - I feel it is more of what I like about M cars. So when I refer to it being more raw, yes compared to my experience owning an E93 (which was fun) and my test drive of the F80 years ago. |

hahaha.. I still look at the E46M like a piece of art. I can't part with it even though I rarely drive it now. If I sold it I know 2 minutes later I will regret it. |
