18 M3 ZCP —-> 18 Widebody HC Challenger?

As I look in the mirror and recite to myself “I’m happy with my M3”.. I have found myself researching and genuinely interested in the 18 Widebody hellcat challengers. I think the 707hp is a major part of it. I know my M3 power is overkill for the street, however I wouldn’t mind more. But at what cost? The hellcat (just like the ZL1,Z06,GT350 etc) is a bargain. I adore the interior/exterior of my M3, and I’m content with the 6spd as well. However, I think that when the 19s are readily available I would shop my M3 around in an attempt to snag a kitty. Many of the reviews on YouTube have noted the interior quality is higher than say a GT350. The two Canadian dudes had nothing but great things to say about the 18 WB HC with the 6spd. Thoughts anyone?

Sounds like you need a hellcat. Not on my list, but still a pretty cool ride.

I’m a big fan of the HC widebody even at 4500lbs. It’s looks fantastic and would be a blast on the streets. Much more character than an M3.

If you dont track ur car, hellcat is perfect daily w more space and confort than m3. Auto tranny is bit less responsive than m3, but id say more exciting in wot pulls n sound category. If you don’t mind shit mpg n cheaper interior trim, id say go for it. I own gt350, and the can tell u some domestics are well worth purchasing

Took a short drive before, not the widebody.
Power is too much and you can def. feel the weight. You just can't hide the extra 1000lb meat comparing to the M3/M4, no matter how much power you have, or how fat the tires are.
Try to take a test drive first. Very, very different from your M3.

Hi so, it's a 125ish trap speed car right?

I think it might be too much power to get to the ground and too heavy.

125ish traps is achievable in stock c6z06, and in f8x with just some mods.

Just be clear on what your are trying to achieve.

A dct f80 is a 119ish trap speed class car, and +5mph is kind of close. I need +10mph to really feel it (and to clearly dominate the other car at any speed during a highway pull)

Not trying to knock the car but focus more on the metrics not the 707hp number (unless being able to say >700hp car IS one your criteria, not the actual acceleration potential)

Hahaha depends how you define character! Much more something, probably not character. Definitely would attract a different type of admirer than an m3 would.

slightly used F10 M5 comp?

Turbo v8 vs supercharged V8

You keep the BMW badge / prestige / interior / build quality etc

Both cars weigh about the same

It took 850bhp in a hellcat to beat me on a roll and i have 650bhp so i totally agree with what you wrote

Oddly enough, I have considered a lightly used F10 M5 comp. I’ve sat in an F90 and I think I would rather wait for that to be in my realm of affordability. I’m not sold on jumping ship from bmw or my M3. I have under 8k miles on my car and other than an AA midpipe, I’m not at the point of no return. Meaning I haven’t modded it so much it would hurt me privately selling. This crazy HC business is probably because of their visceral driving experience from the outside looking in. I don’t think I’m focused solely on the 707hp, but it seems like a different type of animal? I know it’s a sacrifice moving from our bmws to the American top 3-4 sports cars. But their packages seem to be looking more appealing. Even with the stereotype that may come from driving such vehicles.

Perhaps, although I’m on my second F80, 4th M3 and I track a Porsche. But for someone who also has an affinity for classic American muscle cars the HC WB doesn’t get much better. Sound, road presence, wide wheels/tires, retro styling, line lock, marginal handling but insane power, the list goes on. For what is, Dodge nailed it.

On the contrary every time I hear an F8X drive by it’s like watching your kid strike out at tee ball. You want to clap but you realize if he wasn’t yours you’d probably chuckle a bit and think that the parents need to do a better job on the next one.

You pretty much summed up the appeal of the WB HC for me. I haven’t taken my M3 to the track (I live 2 hours from the Ring) but I have enjoyed it on the crazy curvy roads Germany has to offer. It’s a great car and it has been my dream car. I just can’t explain my soft spot for American muscle. I created this thread to determine if any other bmw enthusiasts have made the move or have contemplated the move. I know it’s totally subjective but hearing some thoughts from M owners is typically better than car reviewers on YouTube. They don’t live with 1 car for many months before giving comparisons.

Lol love the analogy!
I do applaud Chrysler for bringing these cars to market. Anytime you can sneak something past the bean counters. I'm not sure that the f80 and hellcat share anything more than an intention to promote fun driving. It's all in what you're looking for. If I wanted a straight line monster, it may be on my list. Unfortunately my tastes run for something capable of more. Cant live with a one trick pony. The m3 is my 4th M car. For my purposes and enjoyment, it is the best.

I never felt this way when I owned an f80 but now, when I hear the stock examples I do find the exhaust sound a bit cringey. Nothing a little aftermarket Support can't address.

I do still LOVE the pronounced flares on the f80, and seeing lowered + 305 rear tires examples never gets old for me
