Drove both an M3 and M4, and the M4 had a noticeably harsher ride
I test drove both and the M4 seemed much harsher than the M3. Is there any reason for this or is it all in my head? Both were ZCP with the 666m wheels set on comfort mode.

Perhaps is the weight of vehicles 2doors vs. 4 doors?

I vote for in your head but maybe someone else has a better explanation.

I don't think 30-80LBs is going to make that much a difference in what he's describing.

M3 and M4's driving dynamics are virtually identical (for the same specs). Chances are, either its in your head, or tire pressures were significantly different between the cars.

I agree it's strange but with the M4 I told myself this won't be fun to drive in Ng but the M3 seemed okay. Perhaps I need to drive it again

Tire pressure. BMW recommends 32psi all around for ZCP cars. I tried running 38psi and the ride went from good to unbearable.

If memory serves me well, the sedan and coupe have different springs, rear I believe...
When you're ordering replacement or upgraded springs it is necessary to specify which model you have, I ran into this with Eibach's |

Pretty confident the difference in aftermarket spring offerings between M3 and M4 is the rear drop is usually different between the two due to the fenders on the M3 making the car look like it's broken by covering too much of the tire when trying to lower it as much as the rear of the M4.
