+40 offset with 10mm spacer equals effective +30 offset (stock front is +29, so that's a wash). this is a fairly common square setup for the track with 513m, but the question would be is the inside width of the 20 inch rim greater then the inside measurement of the 18 inch tire? Haven't measured that, but I suspect it would work. you would definitely have to measure first though, imo. if the measurement indicates a thicker spacer is necessary, I'd probably be against that.

You don’t have to change studs/lug bolts every weekend because you’re using a spacer. Pro race teams do not. I used 10-15 mm spacers with SSR Comp wheels on my e46 M3 track car and had zero issues with studs/lugs. I changed studs/lugs at most only once per year (~35 track days). Also, I was using 10 mm spacers and longer lug bolts with my HRE FF15 wheels on my f82 for two+ years and had zero issues.
