763M Wheels question...

Hi,

Calling all wheel gurus... Does the 763m 20X10 BMW original wheels can be fit with 265-30-20 on the front of an F82?

You’d need to use a 15-20 mm spacer with the 20x10et40 wheel to make it work on the front.

+40 offset with 10mm spacer equals effective +30 offset (stock front is +29, so that's a wash). this is a fairly common square setup for the track with 513m, but the question would be is the inside width of the 20 inch rim greater then the inside measurement of the 18 inch tire? Haven't measured that, but I suspect it would work. you would definitely have to measure first though, imo. if the measurement indicates a thicker spacer is necessary, I'd probably be against that.

9et29 and 10et30 have different front and back spacing so it’s not a “wash”. However, a 20”-dia wheel and an 18”-dia wheel with the same width and offset will have the same back spacing. FYI, pro race teams use spacers with > 20 mm thickness so why are you against using a > 10 mm-thick spacer?

because I assume OP is talking about a street car here, not a race car that has the studs changed every weekend. anyway, the point I was trying to make was just that the 513m rear which is also +40 is commonly used in the front, but that I didn't know if the extra inch of rim radius would interfere differently and that that should be measured.

You don’t have to change studs/lug bolts every weekend because you’re using a spacer. Pro race teams do not. I used 10-15 mm spacers with SSR Comp wheels on my e46 M3 track car and had zero issues with studs/lugs. I changed studs/lugs at most only once per year (~35 track days). Also, I was using 10 mm spacers and longer lug bolts with my HRE FF15 wheels on my f82 for two+ years and had zero issues.
