Turbo Upgrade

Looking into mosselman MSL62-75 turbo upgrade. Looking to keep the car reliable and a daily driver

My question for people who have upgraded turbos.

What issues are you having since you have upgraded (if any)?

What supporting components have you bought to ensure it runs goods?

Do you daily your car?

Finally is it for worth the upgrade over a stage 2 if you only looking for 600 HP?

Got a sweet deal on the turbos, just looking to see if its worth the upgrade. I am not looking to turn it into a full race car. just want good power for the road. (don't want to fall in rabbit hole with going Meth, E 85, Upgrade fuel system, Brakes, dct cooler and front mount radiator.

Mosselman tune will put me at 620 HP with this setup.

Mods looking to do for the turbo set up
Full Hub fix
upgraded turbos
Downpipe
AA mid pipe
Comp Exhaust
Turner intake
VRSF charge pipes
Mosselman tune

Any info would be greatly appreciated this car is my daily.

Here is my buddy he went full out with mosselman

you can get that kind of power without a turbo upgrade. FBO + Full E85 and a custom tune

I agree with Mike, that there are many options from tuning stand point.

600 crank is a tune and downpipes on pump gas.

600 wheel is a tune and downpipes with e85.

No need for a turbo upgrade.

Upgraded turbos are worthwhile, because they allow for higher power output with better efficiency over stock turbos.

FBO, stock turbos, and full E85 tune is not bad for a budget setup, but you really need a proper PI setup for fueling headroom, along with improved power band towards the upper RPM range.

As far as issues to expect (not guaranteed to happen) with your list of mods:

1. Fuel injector failure when running full E85 over a long period
2. Blown engine from lean condition, likely from a ragged edge tune (happened to a good buddy of mine just last night, he was only on the 2nd or 3rd map revision)
3. Connecting rod failure depending on boost pressure and torque level
4. Valve float starting at 800whp +/-
5. Misc boost leak over the course of time
6. Shortened maintenance intervals (highly recommended)

I don't recommend meth unless used for cooling (pre-IC). Some of us have learned the hard way from using meth as fuel supplement; there's at least two blown engines that I know of, mine being one of them. You definitely do not need a radiator upgrade. The factory cooling system is quite capable, although, a few have noticed better cooling efficiency by upgrading the front heat exchanger. As for the top mount IC, this is completely optional; just don't recommend any brand that starts with a C or V for this particular unit if you're looking to spend your money well.

Are you referring to stay away from CSF? If so, why? I have their heat exchanger so curious as to why?

Heat exchanger is solid, but there are way better options with supporting data for the charge air cooler, especially at the sub-$2k price point. I really hope people aren't paying MSRP for them.

Get the pures, Vargas or Kratos you would not regret it I never liked that fact that everyone is pushing the stock turbos to the limit on the full e85 tunes. I only did bootmod3 ots map then happened to get a set of pures and loved every minute of it. On the C or V intercooler its not really needed until they fail our cars have if not the best cooling coolers and breathers its amazing what BMW designed and built.
