If I keep the M3, I will add a Jeep Hellcat (trackhawk) whatever it is called to my stable.

If I ditch the M3, I will swap that for a GT350/GT500 and probably add an E63 AMG or something similar to that.

Dodge Viper to supplement the M3. Not sure there is a better overall car than the M3.

What is everyone's thoughts on keeping the F80 M3 for good? Last manual M3, non hybrid. I think it's likely to age quite well like the E46, timeless? It has the looks, power, interior (seats). My position in Australia with my income and the high price we pay, I don't have the luxury to make big purchase like this so often. The way I look after my cars it's likely to look brand new even after 10years. I'm thinking of leasing the F80 and buying it at the end and keeping for good.
I have a mint E46 with 95,000km (60,000miles) that I'm trying to workout (financially) if I should keep it along with the new F80. The only reason for the E46 is the timeless look, sweet NA engine and steering I just know I won't drive it as much if I've got the choice of the F80 but the thought of having this car in 10years time would feel special. But sometimes it's just bragging rights and who cares??
For reference the price for F80 is 150K and E46 is 40K

Is anyone else having trouble finding the next logical step after the m3? For me the criteria I'd like are:
  1. Manual
  2. Around the same speed as the M3
  3. Good for street driving (short gears, good mid-range)
  4. Good value for money
  5. Premium-ish

Getting a 911 seems like the obvious choice, but they are going for $120K, almost 2x what the M3 was. Moreover, if I get a sport car, it's very tempting to get something that is a convertible, which makes it even more money. I just don't think it's 2x as good.

I could go with a Boxter (slower, low mid-range for more significantly more money) or a Z06 (super tall gears/track focused). What I would really like an an updated manual Z4. Doesn't exist, unfortunately.

I think I'll most likely stay in the segment for at least the next couple generations.

Choosing your next car more than 6 months out is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard...

Boy do I feel stupid now. To think, if it weren't for you, I might have made two, or even three more posts on the subject and, as you point out, two of those posts might have even been contradictory! I tremble at the thought of documenting my hypocrisy on the internet for people smarter than me to see.

Tell me, is it enough to keep my mouth shut about the subject of cars I might want to buy in the future, or should I endeavor to purge them from my internal monologue as well?

And that's what makes it so much fun. I love my M4 even more than I though I would but started looking for my next car within weeks of ownership. Ill do this for another 2-3 years. It's a sickness I don't want to be cured of.

Probably an M3 ZCP INDV here. I'm so tall these are about the smallest "sports cars" I can drive. I can only drive a 911 for about 20 minutes before my knees and back start to hurt. Which sucks cause otherwise I would have a 991 GTS all day.

Honestly, I'd start adding M cars from the past. There were some truly great cars. The other cars that would interest me would be a Boxster or a Viper (2 completely different cars, I know)
