Today I went to a local BMW dealership and I was quoted $6,500 for Platinum 5 year/100,000 miles. I just felt something wasn't right, so I left.
I have an M4.
What's a reasonable price for BMW extended warranty? Thanks.

Note: $6,500 = warranty only, no maintenance included

Update: the prices for BMW warranty programs are computer generated. There is no way to negotiate. I went to different BMW dealerships and I was quoted exact same amount every time.
I ended up buying GD 50/100,000 for $6400 including tax.

Update 2: I got some money back when I sold my M4 because it was still under warranty.

That is absurd.

I would recommend contacting some of the forum sponsors for a quote. I would also recommend looking at the power train + warranty as it will be considerably cheaper and cover all of the most important components such as the engine and drivetrain.

Don't ask where I got this, but let's just say I'm very interested in extending the warranty of my M4 in the Summer of 2019. Here's what I ahem, found.

It goes in order:

Platinum is highest
Then Gold
Then Power Train Plus

I think the best deal is Gold. I think I'll get the 84 month, 75k mile package when the time comes.

NP, was having some issues where it was sideways and thus very hard to read. ;P

Also, the one they quoted you might have included maintenance. If so, the reason it's so high is because BMW figures you'll need to replace the brake rotors at some point during that warranty period. Boom, big $$$.

No maintenance included. I asked the lady who gave the quote. She said M4 is an expensive car, $6500 no maintenance included, only warranty.

FWIW, my dealer told me MSRP for Platinum 5yr/100k (ESC PL 60M/100K MLS) is $6649 w/ $50 deductible.

I was mostly interested in Gold 6yr/75k, but gave me an MSRP price of $6349 for that, so didn't go any further there.

I have an extended warranty basically covers the same things the BMW warranty would.

I pay $2310 Australian for three years. Unlimited miles.

It's underwritten by Virginia surety which is an American mob I believe.

No deductible to pay.

LOL, welcome to the new era of insurance.
We in the US now have High-deductible health insurance, up to the first $2K/yr is out of pocket then insurance picks up the tab @80%. during that $2k period, they are "the mob" or "muscle" telling doctor and clinic how much they can charge me w/o paying the tab.

If you drive your M-car like you stole it, IMHO go get ext warranty else it's a waste of money.

How much lower are you really able to go from the msrp on the DCS? How does your dealer have a lower bottom line?

Some dealers give discounts some dont (some items have margins some dont. this changes from time to time based off a variety of factors). This goes for cars, parts, and warranties. like everything there is room, its up to the dealer to figure out what they want to do with that. Good thing for everyone there are lots of dealers out there hence its always good to shop around.

Just as a heads up to the others... I took your advice and talked to Mr. Martinez and he quoted me an even more absurd number than OP. No thanks.

you must be mistaken, did you tell him you were a forum member? He sells 10+ a month to forum members all at heavy discounts. If you didn't mention your a forum member then he quoted you the regular price. Feel free to PM me if you had any issues and I can follow up with you no problem, could have been a miss communication, im going to call over right now and see whats up

ok here is the deal everyone. I just spoke with Jim, BMW actually recently RAISED the prices on the extended warranties by a LARGE amount. Hence why pricing is getting up there now. I also can confirm the prices that Jim is quoting you guys is basically at cost. The price raise is something obv we can not change, the mark up is though.

also they changed the maint to 3/36k miles and NO brakes

this is not the case. You can get discounts on warranties, there is a decent amount of mark up in those. The warranties and pretty much everything across the board from BMW has been raised a lot but we still hook the forum up with the same pricing. The base amount though has raised which is now making everything crazy expensive

wheel and tire also went up. I think wheel and tire for a 7 series is up around 5k range now!

....oops... I was told by the finance director at the dealership that there is no way to negotiate and pricing in Florida is different. I visited different dealerships but the quotes I got were almost exactly the same.

By the way I called the person you referred to me but he never answered and I left a voice message and still never got a call back.: I tried.

Anyway, I will contact you when I look for my next BMW.

most dealers will not negotiate on those, we only do so for forum members.

we are also a very small store, Jim is our finance dir who runs both stores for us so he does get a little tied up. He was also on vacation for a week or so a month ago. I always try to stress to everyone if they ever have any issues getting a hold of Jim or David to just shoot me a PM and I can follow up for them no problem.
