It is inherent, important discounts will be coming on the M3cs. It has been grossly overpriced in the US and the market is responding accordingly.

For instance, I was able to get over $9k USD of discounts and incentives on my 2019 LRG M4cs that I had a deposit on for over a year (meaning I had not much bargaining power) and ended up paying $83k USD for it (all fees included) before taxes. It's important to mention that M4cs starts at a much more reasonable $89k USD MSRP here in Canada while the M3cs starts at $87k USD and we get the fancy colours for free .

Agreed. My dealer offered me 10% plus all incentives off any M3 in stock including the CS. I was not interested since the CS is way too expensive and the 10% does not adjust the price downward enough for me to consider it. Forget leasing as the residual is so bad it only makes sense as a purchase.

The price you bought at makes a lot more sense. Still above my personal budget, but the premium isn't outrageous. Awesome color BTW.

Speaking strictly in the North American market, A 9% discount on new year bmws not even delivered yet is a bad sign for the brand. Sounds a lot like American brands that never move anywhere near retail. I’d like to see BMW price appropriately, based on market sentiment, vs not have the perception of a big discount labeled brand that ultimately hurts brand image.

BMW has been destroying brand image for awhile. Look at some of the monstrosities that come out of Munich

The competition is catching up and in some cases for a lot less, bmw has smartly expanded their line to a greater audience, it’s just a different game plan. M division is getting a bit diluted and thus falling behind the competition. BMW seems to be comfortable sitting back, in some cases overpricing, and see what happens, ergo big discounts. Hope it works out for them, I’m a fan, but with more choices at comparable and even better pricing, I’ll wait to see what happens. The M2 seemed to be a great price point when it first came out, now quickly it’s bloated when you look at CP and a coming up CS(?) pricing. And I won’t even go into the cars now having less road feel than previous years, where other manufacturers seems to be getting it better and better, for example Alfa.

That brand dilution is common across many German makes. I was at the MB dealer last week helping my dad with a new purchase and almost every car in the showroom had some sort of AMG badging on it. For instance, they relabeled the C400 a C43 AMG and they used a similar approach across their entire lineup. In 2006, when my wife got her S4, it was a direct competitor to the E46 M3; now with the introduction of the //RS lineup, the S4 has become competitor to the M340xi and Audi have splattered //S badges across their lineup.

I feel the big three Germans have evolved similarly in this particular segment (the M3/4 segment) and don't think BMW has "lost ground" per se. The Japanese (Lexus) are still behind with the Americans making a decent offering (Cadillac) that has not really caught on. The Americans in general have made fantastic progress in the general performance market though, with great offering such as the Mustang, Corvette and Camaro. However, while some buyers might cross shop these, they are not direct competitors to the M3/4.

Porsche on the other had has moved significantly upmarket with the 911 in both price and performance, to the point that a 911 can no longer really be considered an indirect competitor to the M3/4. That spot has been filled by the Cayman. While it falls in the same price and performance category as the M3/4, it has significant practicality shortfall while offering a purer driving experience.

Good deal for any M3 though. CS is overpriced to begin, I agree.

Any chance they offer 0.9% financing in December to clear inventory? That plus at least 10% off a 2018 M3 and I would probably pick one up. The 0.9% financing would be the equivalent to a few more grand off the selling price on its own.

Agreed. And I especially like what Porsche has done, though they have expanded their brand, the 911s and Caymans have stayed true to the “pure drive”. Grow the Cayman slightly more and bingo, where as the 911 had gotten a tad bigger, the cayman with its mid engine design, getting it closer to 918 size territory, would be nice too see. - Atleast for us slightly older more full size guys!

This is a question I have been wondering myself! Would love to get a San Marino Blue so I am playing the waiting game to see how big the discounts get myself!

Sales of $100k+ cars will vary depending on markets. Toronto alone received 10+ of these and they are all gone, I'm glad I didn't wait for discounts.

Actually, there are 5 for sale that I know about. Many of these dealers are not yet advertising them. I am starting to see some decent discounts now in Toronto area.

Makes sense given CanAutM3 got his at a nice discount. I'd pay $83k US for a CS but not $102 or not even $98. Why are the Canadians and the Brits getting such healthy discounts but not the Yanks?

Where is the love BMWUSA?? For all your long term M3 fans - show us some loving!!
How about you check your database and see how many M cars some of us loyal fans have bought in the last so many years then maybe dig deep and send a $10k voucher to those of us that will treat the CS properly.

Get creative boys - wake up call to NJ HQ.

i just bought a CS in northern CA for 6500 off msrp and 2.7% financing. which in the end was better than a the other offer i had received at 9500 discount at 4.69% (orange county has higher interest per bmw financial) in the end the $6500 off msrp was $1500 more in savings. i love the car!

So looking at the F80 production numbers posted in a separate thread, it looks like there were 609 M3 CS made for the US, 178 of those are currently on Car.com! That is a pretty high number for sale and I am sure it is missing some as I didn't see the one at my local dealer on the list.

The CS is cool and I would love to have a car in Lime Rock Grey, but over 100K is just too much in my opinion.

BMW is about to announce CS residuals will now be the same as standard M3/4 percentages. No reason to wait any longer.

This is not speculation. Starting ASAP thru December.
