Upgrading from an E92 M3 to an M4
Hey guys,
Who here has upgraded from an E92 M3 to an M4/M4 competition pack?
Im currently thinking of upgrading but Im not 100% sure. Would love to hear some thoughts from those that have done it. PS - Asking because I went and had a look at an M4 today and thought it was absolutely beautiful. Cheers |

I went from an E92M3 manual to M4 Comp DCT one month ago.
Yes I do miss the sound of the V8, but slowly getting used to the crackles and pops of the M4. The big jump in torque and more HP plus all the other technology features makes is a fun car. It is quite a bit faster than the e92m3 especially off the mark. I don’t have any regrets. I had my e92 M3 for about 6 years. |

Thanks PB.
Im really concerned about potentially making the change because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that screaming V8 engine! But the interior and finish on the M4 is really special. Im really torn. Its either the M4 or a Lambo lol I just saw a video on Youtube where they put an S65 engine in an M4. That's pretty cool. |

I put it this way after driving an E92 then an F82 back to back. The E92 is a broadsword. The F82 is a scalpel. Everything in the F82 is more focused and refined. It's a whole other level of car above the E92.

I went from an e92 M3 to a F80 M3 Comp Pack with zero regrets. As with everyone - sound is pretty much the only thing I miss. Everything else is just more refined and dialled up a notch. F80 has actually decent fuel economy on road trips - so i welcomed less visits to the petrol station too.

I went from an E90 M3 to an F80 M3 (well I had an RS3 inbetween but let's not split hairs).
Cons: Noise isn't nearly as good and it doesn't make me want to ring it out. Steering isn't as feelsome. Isn't as rare? Pros: Fit and finish, ride, handling, weight, technology, torque, looks?, it's soooo much faster in the real world, petrol consumption is really good (especially on long runs), takes less time to warm up the engine, marginally more boot space, front axle is ridiculously grippy. Neither is without fault but having had a 1M as my first M Car and understanding how they feel and handle both cars are a distillation of that same chassis feel that BMW were going for. The F80 is a better daily for sure and the E90 would have made a good occasional tripper (it likes a drink and the E90 EDC wasn't nearly as good as the Audi system or the F80's EDC). |

if you don't want the extra tech (hud, carbon roof, ceramics, adjustable dampeners) and luxury (leather dash, merino leather seats, rear blind etc) than i'd be going e92 to m2c

I dont have the room unfortunately.
At this point it's the Lamborghini. I went for a drive in one 2 weeks ago and it was incredible. I figure there's only one thing better than a screaming V8 and thats a screaming V10! |
