This should be interesting...

"Tuning 101"? If you dont know the most basic concepts of tuning pick up a book or two and start with the four strokes lmao

Have a tutorial for the n55/s55 How you guys manipulate the cams separate from each other, and how to use 100% Manipulation of valve lift/duration/timing?? aka Valtronic and Vanos.

Not a bash on anyone if you say teach me tuning 101, and don't the basics, you shouldn't be touching maps in a $50-80k car computer ...And even if you don't to damage, do you plan on making more power that PTFs canned flash?

If anyone requesting tuning info 'there's millions of pages of diff tuning philosophies, tecqniques etc...Than get the experience you need to make a tune your comfortable with,

And that number decreases exponentially with increasing temperatures, hence why BMW even put a smaller limit of 60 than the one provided by Tricore (100).

Probably no one would have a bad flash because of a very high number of flashing TC1797, but the likelihood of it happening is non zero, and personally if I had a tune app that flashes, I'd be conservative with the nb of flashing unless it was a benched DME.
Physical limit of Tricore's EEPROM is somewhere close to 1 million writes. We're pretty sure that limit would be ok

Definitely not trivial but to be honest it isn't hard either. Once released to a wider audience we're sure there will be more questions and it'll be easier to answer to them. What it is though is just time consuming when poking at things the first time. On our end it took exponentially longer as we had to do the heavy lifting in table discovery, building OTS maps, making sense of tables and putting them in a structure that would sort of make sense to the general audience.

As with any OEM DME tuning platform, things evolve and improve over time and we're definitely not stopping at go-live date. Its just the beginning and we look forward to everyone taking a look and poking at it either themselves or with a tuner of their choice.

Although OT, here's the reference from Tricore Data Sheet.

EEPROM programming can be done different ways. We're close to 600 flashes on the dev M4. On the N54, N55 we have done considerably more than that and its an even older EEPROM. OBD level programming doesn't fall under those specs

80 revisions and counting plus probably 30+ OTS flashes before so 100 is definitely not the limit!

I never said you can not flash more than 60 or 100 times, all I did is reference Tricore?s own documentation and that data retention may be affected. And FYI, TC1797 has flash memory with EEPROM emulation, no EEPROM there ... further the limit is different for the different areas.

Please explain why OBD2 programming does not fall under those specs, when BMW has enforced checking with its own tools for flashing via OBD2 and obviously BM3 does not check programming counters to prevent flash. Yes, you can flash maybe one million times and nothing may happen, but data retention is affected by nb of write operations, temperature and many other factors. It is obvious that most users are not EE or chip designers, so probably my mistake to reply to begin with, sorry flash away to your heart's desires folks.

Definitely looking forward to this.

After the last HOTS2 map, my pure turbos are breathing very well. The car is incredibly quick. Can't wait to customize some of the small things.

Great work Dzennan!

Custom tuning is available in BM3!

Go into your BM3 account, click request custom tune, select the tuner of your choice and click send! They'll contact you and you can go from there.

Or alternatively, click on the "tuner" tab and contact the tuner of your choice using the contact info on their tuner page.
