No one is hang up on how long it takes (even though it makes a difference as with taking a very long time you risk the car going to sleep half way through the flashing process), but some of us are trying to understand the reason to why it takes this long vs other flashing methods that take a 1/4 of the time. And thanks to VF they clarified that.

No need to try and be a smart @$$

We have tested and successfully executed both full and partial flashes,
in scenarios of new software installation, map switching, and returning
to stock.

The results from all those scenarios we will leave to discovery by other
tuners, but we have identified our preferred methods, and have already
completed more than a dozen flashing processes across M2, M3/4, M5,
X5M, and 3/435 models.

So i guess the answer is YES you are able to do both using the new tool.

My guess is full flash for new software and for returning to stock, and partial flash for map switching.

It's not about that, it's just that folks want to understand the mechanics behind each product.

Especially a new product like OBD Flashing.

Pretty much. Definitely thread jacked and I think technical info/questions need to be asked and answered. This is why this thread was created anyway. While I may not be able to chime in and answer all of the questions, VF-Engineering has been fantastic in answering every question here and in other threads. It is a very exciting and busy time for this product.

While all this is going on, I am enjoying the shit out of my tune and car is running very strong!

Thanks for all the info and the review!

How does it work exactly? They send you a cable, get your cars info, and then send you your stock file with a tune version you purchased? VF-Engineering

Also will you be posting dyno results or the installation video anytime soon?

Hey no problem! Yes that is basically the gist of it. Seriously it is idiot proof in a sense, if I can make it happen so can you! All that information can be found on their website here with details of how it works. = http://www.vfengineering.com/m4-ecu-tuning/

If you have anymore in depth questions I suggest asking VF-Engineering

I have posted the Dyno results now on first page!

Wait...I am getting confused here. Did you get the ZCP file power level installed or the CS "Competition Sport" Power level they list on there website here? I thought those gains you posted originally were insane for ZCP but it sort of makes sense now if it is the CS file. -
https://vfe1.com/products/hex-m4

Your dyno is what they have posted in there separate thread for CS power levels gains. Also what were your results on the dyno for stage 1 in comparison when you went back? That would clear things up and would love to see the comparison.

Also, perhaps the installation process video? What is taking so long?

VF-Engineering and Gatchaman12 any updates?

He could have a GTS level tune as well, which is another bump from CS. I was surprised reading about such gain going from plain to ZCP, them being so close power wise.

Can someone smarter than me please clarify?
Any answers?

Yes, according to another thread the counter bypass is still in the works for OBDII tuning. Therefore its a tick every time you flash to a tune or back to "stock"

Damn

I've been wanting to do HEX tune. I'm wondering if OBDII tune also triggers tamper code

Nothing is invisible. It's not the same as Audi where they immediately pull the tamper code but just consider everything visible to BMW.

Dyno results before which was stock with exhaust and after with ZCP file:

[/QUOTE]

Question.. aren't ZCP and stock supposed to produce the EXACT same Torque levels, with just a slight bump in KW?

Just a quick update, and then we'll expand more on the topic
in a future post ...

This customer actually received the "CS Level" ECU Software,
not "ZCP Level".

The difference between the two power levels is obviously noticeable
in the dyno plots as well as the driving characteristics. You can click
through to the following link to see the differences and read more
about BMW's advertised gains which are measured at the crank,
and the real world gains as measured at the wheels.
