Guess that's how its supposed to be then. I figured I'd be able to register the car and load the maps, have a look while waiting for the beta to end lol

Okay one last silly question about warranty, I don't want to be that "annoying" guy... so last one. Promise.

If I purchase the tune, OBD unlock, load up the CS map and drive it around because I'm curious....then after I've had my fun I load back the stock map and relock the ECU.

A year down the road my engine goes kaboom, will BMW still deny my warranty even though I was on the stock tune at the time of failure because once upon a time I was tuned? Will they look into my ECU history and say...."well yup, this guy was tuned at one time" he's screwed. Haha!

What I'm trying to say is that if I flash, then went back to stock will it come back and haunt me like a bad one night stand years ago?

I'm guessing with FASTA data they can have a screen shot of when the failure happens correct? And if you're running all stock at the time, they shouldn't have a problem even though you were once tuned right???

If they notice you have any history of tune or piggyback the warranty is at risk no matter the current state.

You're already the "annoying" guy asking warranty related questions. If you're concerned about warranty don't have your car tuned. And please, no more warranty questions.

Non of us are Gandalf with a crystal ball. As others have mentioned don't tune if your scared about your warranty.

Sweet, simple and straight answer. Thank you sir.

If I had a year or two of warranty left then I wouldn't even bat an eye but I do have 6 years left on the line so I'm just a bit hesitant. Oh well, curiosity always gets the better part of me in the end anyways. Time to place my order.

I never understood this logic of waiting until you are out of warranty or close to end of warranty before modding. Think about it. If you got BM3 1 day after you bought your car and the engine blows up, you’d be paying for the engine. If you got BM3 1 day after your warranty expires, you’d still be paying for a new engine. So, regardless of when you tune your car, the financial cost is exactly the same. The only difference is you are tuning a car that is 4 yrs old and have worn components vs a brand new car that is much fresher and more ready to accept mods.

I suppose it would e a good idea to maybe drive your car for several months before modding as people have experienced engine failures on cars with very low miles. However, after the car is broken in and you have a reasonably clear idea that the car is trouble free, that’s likely the best time to install your tune, not when your warranty is about to expire.

I think the logic is that there is always the chance you might run into other mechanical issues during your car's early life, but if they find out you are tuned they'll try as much as possible to blame it on the tune and deny that work even if it is not necessarily related to the tune/engine.

Here in Kuwait, once you're modded (even if its just an exhaust), your warranty is gone. Even if you come with a non-drivetrain related issue, if you're modded your entire warranty is revoked.

I guess it's dependent on area and also individual dealers and service advisors. Here in the U.S., California in particular, I have found most dealer service writers are reasonable. Even if the car appears heavily modded, they won't deny warranty work for unrelated items. for example, if my window regulator breaks, they will fix it under warranty even if my ECU is tuned.

Big shout out to PTF, Dzenno has been working on one of our Track rats for the past few days and was able to fully perform unlocking/tuning fully through OBD2.

We are happy to announce that we are now fully set up for full BM3 OBD2 flashing, as well as those looking to run full E85, including dyno tuning on-site

No DME pulling for unlock and yet full on corn on the cobb action with a track tune! Great job Tom and PTF. What does it put down now? What mods are on it?

M4 is pushing just over 570whp and still on stock turbos, dialed back a bit to err on the side of safety on the track. Running colder plugs.

Engine mods include Catless downpipe, Akrapovic EVO and intakes/charge pipes, we'll likely be removing the intakes and going back to the stock airboxes with BMCs.

Another OBD2 BM3-tuned M4 hits the streets with CaryTheLabelGuy E85 Flash. Hitting 570whp on stock turbos!

A little breakup in midrange on this run, we've been noticing the coilpacks failing (common with BMWs throughout the years) a bit prematurely, its a good idea to keep an eye in this area if you're noticing misfires. New coilpacks cured the issue.

Modifications
- Evolution Racewerks Downpipes (catless)
- Evolution Racewerkz Charge Pipes
- Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust
- NGK Plugs

Enjoy!

Plus as cars age, parts and repairs tend to get cheaper. I remember when throttle actuators were $1k a piece for the S65... Now you can get both for the same amount. Plus if I blow up a motor 6 years from now, I could probably find one out of a wrecked car for much less.
