If only they had just given us a friggin physical button for this feature on/off from the get-go like the 10,000 other buttons in the cockpit.
God forbid you err on the side of simplicity. . .

Where are all the tuners on this?
In E92 days, tuners were adding MDM to cars that didn't have it. Adding new options in the M drive menu. I would reach out to them to reinforce that there is a market for an ON/OFF switch. If it were configurable with M modes, even better! |

Just coded;
FEM_BODY > TCM_STARTLOCK_BRAKE = nicht_aktiv FEM_BODY > TCM_STARTLOCK_CLUTCH = nicht_aktiv FEM_BODY > TCM_STARTLOCK_DRIVINGREADINESS = nicht_aktiv I was hoping to be able to start the car without the clutch, but I got a starter malfunction warning on the display when trying to start it. Once the clutch and brake are depressed, the car was able to start. I also tried coding just the STARTLOCK_BRAKE = aktiv to only have brake requirement to start, but I still get the same result. I ended up coding everything back and just programing the M1 button with Sport+ for throttle for no rev-match function.. Last edited by DLag30; 09-23-2016 at 03:14 PM.. |

Would be nice to have. I'm shocked one of the popular tuners/coders has not figured out yet how to have rev matching in all settings (or completely disabled for those who want that).

In for a solution to add rev match in sport+.
Oddly enough, I find that I actually quite like the feature but prefer the throttle mapping in sport+.

Rev Matching - How can I shut it off???
I have a 2017 F80 with manual transmission, I absolutely hate the rev matching. I just brought my car in for a stupid issue with a rim and I think they did a software update or something. Before, when the engine was in Sport + mode, it wouldn't rev match. Now, no matter what engine setting, its doing it and it's driving me nuts!!! How can I shut it off??? Please help!! Thanks

I have a May 2016 build and I have gone through period of 3-4 hours where my car rev matched in Sport + before stopping. Usually turning the car on and off completely (including locking the doors) stopped it. I have gone through periods of days where my rev matching did not properly work (or at all) in sport mode (where it is on). That didnt bother me because I only drive in Sport + except in rain/snow. Have them reupdate the software or look at it. there's not rev match off/on toggle switch you control. coding also doesnt affect it that I am aware of.

Still boggles my mind why BMW wouldnt have made this feature able to be fully on or off in any mode selected. There are tons of people who wish they could have the rev match on in sport + and just as many who wish they could turn it off all the time.
Any tuners/coders out there close to figure this one out? You would have a ton of customers if so. |

Funny how different manufacturers deal with this. Porsche does rev match only in sport+. Corvette has a pair of toggles/paddles that would be upshift/downshift in an automatic, but in a manual car turns on/off the rev match. Unfortunately, as far as I know, you can't code options in Porsche or Chevrolet like we can with BMW. So you're kind of stuck with whatever they decide.

Am I taking crazy pills or are more people inexplicably asking for more rev matching than less in this thread which is supposed to be about coding out rev matching?

2017 340i Xdrive 6MT -PPK- about to test
I know this is an F80 thread- but the coding for F30s and F80s are quite similar if not identical.
I have been driving manual for all of my driving career (since 1996)- built quite a few...broke quite a few...and built them again Rev matching is nice at times- but completely throws me off- After owning Corvettes and a CTS-V... and other manual performance cars- Manual means- you do all the work.. (Engineers like a one to one connection to the machine they are captaining) I am going to code to depress both brake and clutch to start and see how the car responds. (Including error codes..for every action there will be a counter reaction) You can already turn off rev matching by holding down the DCT button and disabling traction control- however, The muffler flap remains closed and the car runs the comfort fuel map- you cannot combine this feature in Sport or Sport Plus modes. In short...from the mechanical perspective- They are saving warranty work for leaking rear main seals.. Down shifting (as fun and awesome as it is- does a job on your rear main seal) Hence why they are only allowing downshifting in a non aggressive mode Results to come later today I am about to take a drive for about 2-3 hrs- lets see what happens. |
