Has anyone lived with a gts

Thinking of moving to a porcshe 911 gts. Has anyone else here got one, or had one ? Any views are welcome. Looking at the pre turbo version.

Guessing you are looking at the 991?

I had a 997.2 Carrera S which was very very good, while it was in for some work I had a 991 for a week and it was really nice. Big step up from the 997 and very quick.

The only thing about the 991 is that it doesn't have the feel of the 997. What I mean by that is the steering was no where near as good and in some ways it felt a little artificial with the active sound.

The gts is the pick of the bunch and the one I would have if getting another one.

I've quite driven a few 991 GTS at the PEC and they are lovely, a good friend has one in Mexico blue it's stunning all round, noise/looks/grunt/handling etc..

Yes but as I'm lead to believe the previous generation is naturally blown as apposed to the later 15 models . And the interior is changed . More up to date navigation and things.

Thanks Scottc. I felt it was a little light on the steering too. And yes your right I have no idea on model numbers lol. 991 it is then . Waiting for dealer to get the non turbo version so I guess no active sound in there just very active sound from the rear seat ...

The 997 is a better 911 but the 991 is a better car

If I could I would, no question if over an M....it does look like just "another" Porsche to the public while a new M draws attention, but it is quite a differently satisfying experience from the drivers seat.

I would give my M4 plus much gold for a GTS or any other Porsche for that matter

These things are completely subjective and dependent on what you've previously come from, what your expectations/ requirements are and how you plan to use it.

I'd say most people would give their left nut to own a 991 GTS, me included (I've had a 997 C4S myself), and as everyone here is clearly a car enthusiast, we all know that the GTS is a 'best of breed' non GT/ Turbo model of one of the finest all round every day sports cars ever made. No question.

Yes, if it's a daily driver, it won't be long before the "is this a little too much" thought creeps into the back of your mind. Because frankly, it probably will be. But no, you'll never regret it, if you're buying for the 'right' reasons.

P cars are just on another level, plain and simple. It's a 'proper' sports car. Not a cooking series model taken to an extreme, but a bespoke sports car chassis, tamed down to a usable level. The M3/M4 and 911 both sit very close to a common middle ground for performance/ usability, but the direction from which they come from, is what differentiates them. It all depends of which side of the 'compromise line' your needs dictate...

My personal opinion? Do it!
