Must Have's For New Delivery

Assuming I pick up next month, what's the minimum I need to sort / have in place?

Currently I have:
  • Car insurance
  • GAP insurance
  • Clean underwear
  • Go over car in detail upon collection
  • Organise a copy of the user manual
  • Check tire pressures

Anything else that is really, really important that I need to be sort / have in place upon collection?

Check list to ensure you check the car thoroughly on pick up, easy to forget in the excitement. I picked mine up and found a small but annoying paint flaw (easily fixed at 1200 mile service) when I got home.

I would download a copy of the user guide (need VIN or did when I got my F80 to download the one for your particular car).

Nice one, have added that to my list. I'll speak to my dealer about getting hold of a manual before pick up as well.

I'm sure people that have picked up new cars recently say they are not given a hard copy of the user manual any more. Worth checking.

User guide built into screen system in car and pdf downloads available. I didn't get a hard copy as I recall.

Sorry, do you have a summary checklist by any chance? I.e. what should one check when receiving a new car?

Where do you get the PDF download from out of interest? I've only seen US versions on forums floating around.

I got both hard copy docs and online version in my X6 (Jul 2015 car) and expect no less for my M3.

As already mentioned, give yourself time to check the car no matter how keen the dealer may be to see you off. And the first thing I do after driving off is to check the tyre pressures! They're always off.

I can use the screen / TPMS thing to do that, right?

Good point!

To add to that, check the washer bottle? Nar, that's going a bit too far.

Will the car bong if oil is low? Does it have a dipstick or is it just on the screen?

Haha, good question - I've no idea. I've only checked the oil once on my 335d through the dash, and that was to show a mate - so I'd hope so.

I'm high mileage so upon collection usually book the 1200 service as this is about 2 weeks to me.

The late lamented BM3W forum used to have one to download I don't think I have a copy try googling. Or perhaps we could create one on here and have it as a sticky.
