Cold start stock exhaust valves open

For anyone that's interested this a short clip of how the stock exhaust sounds with the valves open.

I'd recommend listening with ear phones as the sound reproduction is pretty pants on a phone /tablet, apologies for the chicken legs.

I think Guy (gtsussex) should pop a video up on this thread doing the same (valves open, slight blip of the throttle) so we can hear the differences.

I don't think there would be any difference? They are both stock exhausts on the CP cars? The burble on overrun was only that strong on CP cars was it not?

Can OP confirm if his car is CP or not?

If not then I will be very happy as that's about the main thing I really think I'll miss from the CP

Really? Well I'm getting crazy excited then!! That crackling burble on overrun with minor revs sounds much more like the CP car than I though the stock car would!!

I might have to take my CG valve controller with me to the dealers for collection and crawl around fitting during handover

Right so what do you want? Cold start should be pretty similar with valves open or closed. Where difference should be is warm starts.

Will happily do whatever is needed

I'll be honest i'd be interested to see a comparison of cold start with the same sort of small throttle blips to compare the overrun stock to CP.

Stock exhausts Ade, not a CP car.

But I've opened the valves for the cold start (much louder)

Cold start much louder with them open Yes it would be great to have a video of your CP cold start valves open and a few gentle 2k blips just to compare.

Will try it in a bit. Car hasn't moved for 11 hours so hopefully should be on cold start mode now.

Excellent! How old is the car? Does it have the latest software etc?

I knew the valves open made quite a big difference to the sound but I don't recall hearing a stock non CP car have that sort of burbly overrun?

If it's just minor tweeks on newer cars/firmware then I'm even more excited about Sunday!

It was built Feb 2016 so doesn't have the April 58.3 software update, I was quite surprised at the crackles, is yours a CP? If so you'll enjoy lots of pops and crackles that the stock exhaust on mine doesn't have.

Was that with the valves open on start up Guy?

Doesnt seem to last long and goes quieter within 30 secs. Just as well come winter time when you leave the engine running while defrosting the windscreen.
