M4 Carbon Fiber Roof "pit"

Hi All,
I just got my car back from detailer. I had level 2 paint correction done as well as PPF and ceramic. I bought the used car recently, it's 2017. I was a little shocked when the detailer sent me pics from the inspection and all the minor damage that was showing up. The bumper is actually cracked slightly and so we opted to not PPF the bumper and instead just use ceramic until I can get the damage repaired and resprayed.

After getting all the bad news, I asked if the CFR roof was okay and the response back was it polished up well and looks great - no mention of any damage. Now I'm not necessarily suggesting they did the damage, I simply don't know, but I never noticed it before and noticed it immediately last night.

The detailer said it looks like a rock chip after I sent a couple of photos and they are going to come out to my house and look in person. A single rock chip that far back on the roof sounds unlikely to me. I am trying to learn to not always rush to judgement and worst case thinking like I tend to default to.

I'm super concerned this will get worse quickly and spread if not addressed. What is the best course of action here to fix? Try to find a shop that can fix it with epoxy and clear and then maybe put PPF on the roof? Any other thoughts/suggestions?

I have a service appointment at BMW next week, but I doubt they would do anything under warranty for this.

Doesn’t look like detailing damage and looks like an object struck it, unless they dropped the polisher on the roof. Could be the detailing made it more apparent or maybe happened on the way home.

Rock chips could happen on any large horizontal surface and don’t necessarily need to happen on your hood or windshield. People have had their sunroofs shatter due to a rock.

PPF won’t help at this point but a paint shop should be able to correct it. Good luck and sorry to hear.

I'm going to see about getting it repaired with epoxy or clear and then consider adding ppf on top to prevent reoccurance.

Damn, now I notice there are 2 chips in the windshield that were not there before detailing. sigh
