Someone backed into to me the other day while I was rolling out of HEB. She basically threw it in reverse and hit the gas. Luckily for me she wasn't going fast, and I honked the horn in time. A little bit of her paint came off onto mine and there were some scratches that can be polished out.

A normal person would not be able to tell anything happened.

Winter Detail+ Mods

January 18th, 2016

So, I went a whole different route with the wheels. I sort of went out of character for myself, but I'm happy with my choice. They're Volk ZE-40s in Diamond Dark 18x9.5 +22(18.5lbs) 265/30 and 18x11 +34(19.5lbs) 305/35 wrapped in Toyo R888s. Center caps will not be in till March. They have a strength rating of 700 KG, and Volk has said this is one of the strongest wheels they will make for the next ten years. I may refinish them this year sory of like what IND had, but I haven't decided. supremepower gave me a super deal on these wheels. Probably the best deal I've seen by far. I will post a "feature" with specs, description, etc once the center caps arrive.

This detail ended up happening quite a bit late than I wanted it to. We had a house fire from a chimney pipe failure, and I've been extremely busy. Trying to find time to get this in was difficult.

Some of these pics are with my phone, so forgive the quality.

Initial Foam

Ready for Autoscrub

Iron-X

Wash

Polish Time

This trim is a Motherfucker....

I used Menzerna 3800/3500 for the first time. I like the results, and the working time was decent with the Rupes. However, the Menzerna is pretty damn dusty. I know someone warned me of it, but I'm happy with the results. I didn't use anything but a set of the Rupes white pads. It was able to take care of just about all the imperfections in the paint, and it cut right through the water spots and the bug splatters etched into the paint.

I sealed with Menzerna Power Lock for the first time moving from Jet Seal 109. I could tell right away that the PL was a stronger product. Partly because of the smell I topped it off with some Collinite 845, which I just love.

In addition to the wheels, I installed the JB4 with all wires+ connect kit, VRSF Downpipes and the AWE SwitchPath with 90mm Black Diamond tips, M Splitters and lip. Coilovers are here, I just haven't installed them. I know, I need to adjust the tip position on the exhaust...

I'm not a photographer... so if they look like shit, I'll try to do better next time.

I've neglected this thread, so I'll try and update more next time. Thanks for stoppin' by.

I like beefy tires. I might be the minority with that one.

Now that's a track setup! Love the wheels.

Did you have any issues with the Collinite being too thick to apply? I've heard various people heating that stuff up before application. I've never tried the product myself and was just curious.

Thanks, man. I'll be lucky to see the track a couple times a year with how busy I get.

Yeah, it'll get solid or even chunky depending on the weather. Whenever I pull the sealant out of these the locker, I take the Collinite and shake tohesehehehe hell out of it and leave it in the window. Seems to do the trick. During the summer, it's just a shake well afair. It goes on like butter, though.

I know, I know. appreciate it.

None of the wheels above would fit because the brakes wouldn't clear. At the time, CCW only offered I think two wheels that would fit in 18. They've since released other wheels, but I got the itch and decided to get these.

Why'd you go with black? You said in the other post black is trash. I'm just wondering, no sarcasm here.

No, not yet. I have the suspension, but I've been really busy. I want to do it, but may pay someone due to my schedule.

You know, I did say that. I won't delete it, I'll eat my crow.

I didn't mean to be so harsh with my words at the time. I think I was more or less upset that people were confusing polish vs. chrome. Either way, I was drawn to the finish on these wheels. It's not your standard black wheel, and the paint has metallic flakes in it. In some light it looks grey-ish black, in some light it looks almost a bronze color. Most of the time it looks like a gloss black with heavy flake in it. Just depends on the type of lighting.

I'm still partial to polish and the brushed look.

I love the PL as well. It's like butter.

I didn't have the time to do a second coat. I just finished off with Collinite.

Thanks for posting all the details and for your service. How did you do the embedded link to the individual posts?

Sorry to hear about the fire; hopefully not too much damage. Also, as a former general contractor, I noticed the firewood piled next to your house. This is not a good idea with a wood frame house; even one covered in stone/stucco as it provides a path for termites around the termite protection provided.

Look forward to seeing the wheels with the center caps; should finish those sick wheels off nicely.

Haha I know that all too well. So many people asked when I had my BBS LMs, "but did you HAVE to get the chrome lip?"

It's a polished step-lip, bitch!!

Thanks! The wood is only there temporarily, and will be moving soon.

Well, including the rental house, pack out and repairs it's nearing $180k total. New roof is on, framing and stucco is complete. Just waiting on the new fireplace to be installed.

Are you referring to the links on the table?

I can't stand that...

I'm glad a few people can appreciate a nice polished wheel.

Me, too. Being in a rental sucks.

I'll have to PM you the table to show you how I did it. I only got it because I played with it, and kept previewing the post.

Those wheels and beefy tires look gorgeous, excellent choice!

Anyway, if you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your Xpel from? I already did my headlights and was thinking of covering the roof and maybe the hood as well. Also, if you have some left over film and was thinking getting rid of it, let me know. Thanks.
