Front 19" Rear 20"

Hi,

Will staggered wheel setup improve the ride quality a bit with bigger sidewall in front comparedw with 20" for both front and rear ? How is handling with staggered setup (worse with bigger sidewall?)

What is the benefit of front 19" and rear 20" setup?

Hesitate about whether do 20"*9.5" et22 front and 20"*11" et44 rear or 19"*9.5" et22 and 20"*11" et44. Considering a combo of 275/35R19 and 305/30R20. If no obvious benefit of staggered setup, I would go full R20 setup.

Need some suggestions.

Thanks

If you want to track your car you should go with 19' or 19/20. I don't know anyone who tracks an M3/4 with 20. Steering and grip at the front will be better with a bigger sidewall (19). In addition a flat sidewall (20) would wear out faster. Finally 19 is a bit lighter. So there are certain reasons why the GTS and CS come with the 19/20 combo.

should the lower sidewall (20")have better steering on track because of less flex ?

I track mine with 20s.

If I were buying a set of wheels for track use I'd get 18s though.

but would 18" with larger sidewall have impact on cornering because of flex ?

If using R spec tyres they are a stiffer construction. More choice and better value in 18 inch tyres than 20.

No in order to maintain grip the tire needs to "work". So a lower sidewall has less "body" to take the "deformation energy" which occurs in turns and corners. Sorry, my English is not good enough for a proper technical description...

Yeah of course 18 is the most common choice if you have no clearance issues with the brake. With a CCB (afaik) you need to go with 19...

Absolutely perfect setup for me, much improvement from stock 666 wheel, don't go to 275 on the front if you will go to R-compound tires, for example Trofeo R 295 is wider than CUP2 305, and CUP2 285 is wider than PSS 285

With CCB track is very bad idea, cuz the you will kill rotors with few good track sessions, when CCB brakes are overheating - they start to lose weight very very fast

If you will use your m3 like a track car, is better to go aftermarket steel brakes with 18's slicks or semi slicks
