ECE-US iDrive controller unit
I am going to retrofit an ID6 head unit and related components in my 2016 F83 M4 (which has an ID4 head unit), and one of the items in the set I purchased is labeled "ECE-US," and is described as an iDrive controller module. Picture attached. Does anyone know what this component does? I have not seen it used in any of the videos demonstrating how to do this retrofit.
I assume from the label "ECE-US" it is some sort of converter for EU-spec cars to work in the US, but that's just a guess. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks in advance.

Close but no cigar. Nothing to do with European Conversion.
It’s the handwriting recognition unit for the letters you “draw” on top of your controller. I would assume you already have one wired deep down in your center console under your arm rest. See part #4 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...04#65829371374 |
