I don't know how you can do a performance comparison in those conditions. The record pace around the Ring was not a fluke. It is definitely not a car you drive off the showroom and head to the track in. You need seat time and to dial it in suspension wise.

Ok just watched the video. The scene where they transition over from reviewing the Merc to the M4 gave me clarity on something that I have been trying to figure out for awhile. It just looks out of place. Like the way kitted out Civics next to an M3. As if they are trying reaaaly hard to be something they aren't. The looks aren't there and apparently the performance is greatly lacking. At least according to CH.

Also I'd like to slightly change my rating order. Again this is based on looks alone. I did not realize, until I watched the video, that the Merc is the penis car. So the revision is....Porsche by a very long mile. Penis car next. M4 wayyyyyyyyyy last and I'd still sell it and get my $68k M3 again. Interesting CH said the same thing! It hauls my wife + three kids and performs like a demon. Such a sweet ride!

It doesn t make any sense to ask gt3 money for an M4 GTS.

I don t get it why bmw builds it and ask silly money. Same goes for the m4 CS.

Bmw should stick to it s roots. Make nice sporty cars for an affordable price!

I have driven the m4 GTS. I would not trade my M2 for it Yes i would trade, sell the M4 GTS and buy 2 Times an M2 and still have money in my pocket.

I would agree in a perfect world but try to find me a 2017 GT3 for $140,000.
As I mentioned in a different post I called around about preordering the manual version coming out in September. If you have not been buying Porsches for the last 10 years from the same dealer, forget it. Same thing with the automatic.
Or be ready to pay $180,000 + if you are lucky on the secondary market.

Not sure that many people will be willing to publicly admit they spent $130k+ on the wrong car

Or it's not the wrong car for them because their goal was to get "best bmw" not "best factory track car"

this is exactly how I feel. granted - years down the road maybe they'll hold their value well for other enthusiasts who want a limited production car.

I will say that a GT3RS probably hasn't gone for much less than $200k so not really a fair price point comparison and I have no idea how much the AMG GTR is going for but I bet at least $50k more than the M4GTS?

regardless of these comparisons, Harris seems to be disappointed in the M4GTS even compared to the M3 which is what I find really interesting. Makes me miss my M3s and I think I need to get another M3 saloon asap.

To counter some of the never ending hyper car talk. Bmw doesn't need a hyper car. Bmw really has only had two of those as their halo cars, and one of them is by extension of the engine (Mclaren f1).

BMW is well known for making regular cars as fun as a supercar. So if bmw would actually stick to what made them bmw they would be ok. Problem with the gts is that it's basicly a marketing exercise. You can easily identify which demographic they are going for with the car and see how everything from gaudy clashing orange colors to a focus on the "I'm cooler then you, my vtec kicked in yo" turbos. And of course more wings and spolers, that's what really counts.

If bmw would stop being so scared of marketing and selling x number of units and focus on making a good product in the segment we the fans would take care of the rest, as we always done.

As these variants continue to be marketing excercises to different degrees of extreme don't expect much of a comparison against the serious metal out there.
