BM3 is simple enough to flash back to stock before service.

You may want to stay stock and do all the work you need and then mod... as your warranty probably expires soon.

A follow up question.

1) Would BMW void my entire warranty if they found that I had an engine tune? Or would they have to prove that my mod caused an issue? 2) Once void, is the entire car's warranty void or just that part modified (ie: engine, power train)?

Sorry for the 101 questions, first time with BMW, I'm coming from the Audi VAG world.

Thanks

BMW Technician here...They have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that whatever modification(s) you have, has caused a component to fail. Example: If you have aftermarket coilovers, and you spin your crank hub, they cannot deny coverage because your vehicle is lowered. If you have an engine tune and your headlights stop working, you'll still get new headlights installed.

Thank you so much Downeaster! Glad to hear BMW is much more reasonable compared to VAG

To be honest, most techs really don't give a shit about your mods, as long as we get paid to fix your car. I have no problem turning a blind to mods. But if you've hacked up an engine wiring harness to put in some Chinese oil temp gauge, and it's interfering with my diagnostic report, that shit is getting flagged.

Claudia at Mckenna is great. I have a fully modded car, with that being said get the warranty work done first then flash your car.

Had my car serviced by Israel from McKenna for the first time since Charlie left. Super cool dude! Everything went pretty smooth. He personally drove my car past the dreaded dip over there. Even noticed the cracks on the badges of my seat and had them replaced. We talked cars for a bit during checkin. Owns a pretty sweet Grigio Telesto M3 himself. Definitely recommend check out his IG ujellym3

Visiting Claudia tomorrow morning just for an oil change. She is fully aware of the modded situation.

Man she’s really hard to get in contact with. I called twice today and left a message to no avail. How is everyone contacting her?

I just called and they transferred me to her right away.

Went down and had a great visit btw. Israel sits right across from her and would be a go-to as well. Claudia was definitely on-board with the game and knew exactly what was up. Very nice lady. Got my oil change. No plugging into the car etc.

I ended up going to BMW of Riverside. Referred to a gentleman named Travis. Very honest and outstanding guy. All the items I asked to be replaced or fixed agreed to perform the work on.

Another great dealership and SA to add to the list of great service.
