F80 Rear Bearing DIY

Anybody done a rear wheel bearing replacement DIY yet?

TIS says to use a million special tools to press the bearing and hub apart/together on the car, but that seems insane since the F8x have a design where the bearing is bolted on to the carrier instead of pressed in like previous generations.

Any reason I can't press the hub and bearing together in the shop press and then simply install as a unit on the car?

If you remove the bearing carrier, which does not require very special tools, you can wither get a complete new hub or take it to a machine shop or well equipped garage and have them press out the old bearing and press in the new one.

Need to replace axles, bearings and hub. Sounds like I can just remove the entire hub instead of trying to remove the axle first and the Removing the bearing/hub.

Will give this a try in the next day or so…

Would love to hear feedback if any one has gone through this.

Also, where is the best place to find tq specs for this?

I'm in the middle of replacing CV axels on F82.
The instruction in pic says to remove the 4 bolts holding the wheel bearing to knuckle assembly. Do you need to remove the 4 bolts to release the axel from wheel hub?
(I would not think so)

Where you able to separate wheel hub from cv axel with no trouble so you can slide off the wheel bearing?

I am also in the middle of it and cannot seem to push the axle out of the splines, any tips? Thank you!

FYI - I noticed the rear bearings are the same part number as the E60 M5. The below install video shows the same configuration with the bearing and carrier. It should be a very similar, if not identical, process.

Either of you resolve the installs? Was it possible to simply unbolt the 4 screws and just remove the hub with the axle in place? Seems simple as long as you can get axle away from hub?

Seems you both had issues getting axle away from hub. I have an axle pull/push tool, hoping that should suffice. Just trying to get some more information.
