Is the M4 really the perfect daily?

My 1995 M4 IS my daily driver, and my only car. It works very well, thank you. My other vehicle is my 2015 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle.

Depends where you are. F83 M4 has been and will continue to be (until a catastrophic event) a wonderful DD in sunny places. You can haul more stuff with the top down than in the trunk with the top up and the rear seats are usable. Not many folding top convertibles with usable back seats. YMMV...

If your going to own a sports car, do your self a favor and buy an inexpensive daily driver (little Kia, Honda, Ford, ..... whatever). I got a little Kia Spectra for $3K and use the M4 on the weekends only.

Yeah that's fine and all if you have a ton of money, otherwise you're just throwing down $40-70k for a weekend toy that's just going to keep depreciating? The whole point is that it's a multi-faceted car and can be used as a DD and other things. Why not just get a 911 or R8 if it's just going to be a weekend car or track car?

I understand your point, but all cars depreciate at some point right? If its a weekend car, it will depreciate less because it will have less mileage, wear and tear, etc., in other words it will somewhat retain its value. An Audi R8 and such cars are much more expensive.

Ultimately, its all about personal preferences and choices; I would not like to drive my M4 everyday but you do.

When I had a short commute, I daily drove my f80 and then an older 911 turbo. Very easy to live with those, as they are still full interior street cars with luxury features like reclining seats, sound proofing, ac, etc

Kia spectra is a nice play if you need to drive into a rough downtown area or leave the car at a train station

Yea, the little Kia works for me. 100 mi a day round trip and working in the construction industry (pulling into dirt roads and lots), I rather have my M4 in the garage waiting for me haha.

As someone that had both, I think the F80 is the perfect daily vs. the F82. That being said, both are great in my opinion and my take can be because I did not have all the options in my F82 as I do in my F80. Also, having kids & back problems helps out with the extra doors (even though I am a coupe guy and this is my first sedan).

Oh man, if my work commute involved dirt roads I would go back to my old ways and have a wrx wagon so I could slide the heck out it on the way to work
