You read it right!

I just had trailer hitch installed on my m4.

I bought it from a forum member who provided great insight on step by step guide. It came off an m4 so I was confident that it fits.

After detailed review I decided to let professionals do the work because it required bumper removal.

I went to my friend and absolute master in his field.

Nick at Master Works 1 in Brooklyn NY

So my concern was exhaust clearance with Active autowerk axle back exhaust. Clearance issue was the case.

With slight modifications that had absolutely no effects on safety or car's integrity the hitch was installed.

Nicks creativity on problem solving is exceptional, he always keep in mind long term durability and quality of work. He is not afraid to tell you "No, it can't be done well" vs taking your money and slapping something together.

I'm not advertising for him, just sharing my experience and a great place for any body shop and creative projects work.

Basic bolt on installation. Curt 2000 lbs trailer hitch, meant specifically for bmw f 3/4 series.

Diffuser needs to be slightly cut to make room for the hitch.

Now for some pics

I have the same hitch on my M3 to mount my bike rack.

I heard people say that when I installed roof rack on CF roof.

Having performance car be usable doesn't seem to click for some people

It's also depends on what tour to pull or the tie weight on the car. I would only put a bike rack on the tow hitch. Anything else more tire and sick wear. I have. A Camry for a tow hitch for. 3 bike rack. But not I. A million years I'd put it on a M car.

I didn’t because the guy who I bought it from gave me already precut diffuser.
Otherwise yes, you would have to cut out about 1”x2” piece
