AC on the M4 is much better then on my previous E92 M3...

Cooling much faster, better dissipation only negative thing to tell is that ur right hand gets cold if you use the center driver blowing downwards.
depends where you keep ur hands ofcourse

I am getting F83 and I have E93 and I am not big fan of the air condition in it.

I know why you are asking. They are about the same. I had an E92 M3 and now have an M4. The AC seems weak, but sufficient.

I noticed that when the air condition is on in the front it barely comes out of the back vents for people sitting in the back. It needs to blast in the front before its coming out in a reasonable flow in the back.

anyone else notice this?

Smile AC Causes Shrinkage

The AC unit is one of the best I have ever had. It gets cold enough the boyz will ask me to turn it down.

Ethan (10 Year Old): Hey Dad.
Me: Yes Ethan, what's up?
Ethan: Could you turn the AC down?
Me: Sure, you getting too cold?
Ethan: Yeah, and I am suffering from shrinkage.
Colin (7 Year Old): Shrinkage? What's shrinking?

I should post this in "Funny things people say in your F8x M3/M4".

+ 1, takes a little time to cool properly after starting it up on a hot day, but once it's running cools perfectly. Throw in some tints and you will be more than fine.

I've found A/C is often dependent on optioning, here's my setup:

Alpine white exterior on carbonstructure interior. All exterior windows except windshield tinted with Suntek Carbon CXP 35, which is a "nano-tint" not as good as 3M crystalline but almost as good in terms of heat rejection.

If my car is sitting in 96-98 degree ambients, in direct sunlight, it is pretty much painful to get in. Opening the door using the shadowline trim burns the hands and the interior is sweltering. The cloth feels fine of course, which is awesome.

If I turn on the A/C without the car moving, and put it on max A/C at idle speed sitting still, within about 30 seconds it gets cool. Within 60 seconds cold air is blowing.

If I then start to drive, within 90-120 seconds the interior is cold enough where it's time to turn down the A/C to mid-level at most.

I've never had to blast max a/c for more than 2 minutes to get the interior to be "cold" once driving.

And once the interior is at a good temp, the A/C easily keeps up. For example, if I'm driving at 1pm on a hot day cruising on the highway, I might put it in Auto at 65 degrees on the readout and put the fan at level "2" and it will be quite cool inside my car. I.e. Uncomfortable for my wife cool.

Hope this helps!

I have 3M Crystalline and it takes like... 15 seconds maybe currently in LA to get my car to be very cool again.

Compared to my 3er w/ Huper Optik which takes maybe close to a minute before the car is actually cool enough. I'm probably going to remove Huper and put on Crystalline as well.

I came from an 06 G35 and I think it's a step down IMHO. When you hit auto in that car all parts of the HVAC went auto and self adjusted based on temperature. I would leave it at 72 year round. This car... It gets the job done though. I was just spoiled by what seems like a more advanced system.

I honestly think the CF roof helps to keep the interior cool as well.

I think it's very good, however I live in the UK where the annual mean temp is 10c.

I agree with this. A/C works fine but is not the most advanced system. The auto temperature setting is not really that automatic since it does not automatically adjust fan speed. I also think the plastic dial with blue and red settings above the center vents is ridiculous (although other people have said it is one of the best features of the car in other threads). Bottom line is it works fine as far as cooling the interior but is a bit of a step backwards in controls vs. what I've seen from Audi, Lexus or other brands.

Actually I have Moonroof, I ordered my car from Germany with it, I'm very used to having a Moonroof lol but my Moonroof is tinted with 3M Crystalline as well so. I don't feel anything.

After realizing that is an amazing idea, I did the same to my 3er and now I don't feel any heat coming from my Moonroof unless it's close to 100 degrees which you would feel regardless. So long as you keep the shade part closed it should be ok.

I've always had normal metal roofs with no holes in them. Never been a fan of the sun/moonroof. That's my comparison. My wife's car is white and it get hotter than my black car. This is another reason why I think the CF plays a role. Of course the lack of tint on her car plays a role as well. The first few weeks I had the M (no tint) I noticed it was both cooler than my last black on black car, but also my wife's car.

Yes! I went through this thread to see if anyone was having the same issue. Up front the AC is great, but the back is not super great. This past weekend during a road trip I sat in the back with our 9 month daughter and found it was not getting much air, so we closed the two out vents up front and pointed the one of the two center towards the back. This made it a good bit better and it was still comfortable for my wife up front. The vents in the back seemed to get a tad more forceful with the sides closed, but I think pointing the one straight back helped the most.

In our normal temps of 100-110 in AZ during the summer, the AC rocks. First 5 minutes in max and then, back into auto at 72. If it's a trip longer than 30 minutes, I have to either turn the fan speed down or raise the temp because it gets too cold. Best BMW AC yet.

Same in my M3. My wife is convinced something is broken and that I need to take it in for repair. Can't tell if this is normal or not. There's barely any air flow back there though, it's pretty bad. Anyone else?
