I noticed that when the air condition is on in the front it barely comes out of the back vents for people sitting in the back. It needs to blast in the front before its coming out in a reasonable flow in the back.
anyone else notice this? |

AC Causes Shrinkage
The AC unit is one of the best I have ever had. It gets cold enough the boyz will ask me to turn it down.
Ethan (10 Year Old): Hey Dad. Me: Yes Ethan, what's up? Ethan: Could you turn the AC down? Me: Sure, you getting too cold? Ethan: Yeah, and I am suffering from shrinkage. Colin (7 Year Old): Shrinkage? What's shrinking? I should post this in "Funny things people say in your F8x M3/M4".

I've found A/C is often dependent on optioning, here's my setup:
Alpine white exterior on carbonstructure interior. All exterior windows except windshield tinted with Suntek Carbon CXP 35, which is a "nano-tint" not as good as 3M crystalline but almost as good in terms of heat rejection. If my car is sitting in 96-98 degree ambients, in direct sunlight, it is pretty much painful to get in. Opening the door using the shadowline trim burns the hands and the interior is sweltering. The cloth feels fine of course, which is awesome. If I turn on the A/C without the car moving, and put it on max A/C at idle speed sitting still, within about 30 seconds it gets cool. Within 60 seconds cold air is blowing. If I then start to drive, within 90-120 seconds the interior is cold enough where it's time to turn down the A/C to mid-level at most. I've never had to blast max a/c for more than 2 minutes to get the interior to be "cold" once driving. And once the interior is at a good temp, the A/C easily keeps up. For example, if I'm driving at 1pm on a hot day cruising on the highway, I might put it in Auto at 65 degrees on the readout and put the fan at level "2" and it will be quite cool inside my car. I.e. Uncomfortable for my wife cool. Hope this helps! |

I have 3M Crystalline and it takes like... 15 seconds maybe currently in LA to get my car to be very cool again.
Compared to my 3er w/ Huper Optik which takes maybe close to a minute before the car is actually cool enough. I'm probably going to remove Huper and put on Crystalline as well.

After realizing that is an amazing idea, I did the same to my 3er and now I don't feel any heat coming from my Moonroof unless it's close to 100 degrees which you would feel regardless. So long as you keep the shade part closed it should be ok.

Yes! I went through this thread to see if anyone was having the same issue. Up front the AC is great, but the back is not super great. This past weekend during a road trip I sat in the back with our 9 month daughter and found it was not getting much air, so we closed the two out vents up front and pointed the one of the two center towards the back. This made it a good bit better and it was still comfortable for my wife up front. The vents in the back seemed to get a tad more forceful with the sides closed, but I think pointing the one straight back helped the most.

In our normal temps of 100-110 in AZ during the summer, the AC rocks. First 5 minutes in max and then, back into auto at 72. If it's a trip longer than 30 minutes, I have to either turn the fan speed down or raise the temp because it gets too cold. Best BMW AC yet.

Same in my M3. My wife is convinced something is broken and that I need to take it in for repair. Can't tell if this is normal or not. There's barely any air flow back there though, it's pretty bad. Anyone else?
