F80/F82 Battery Life Survey
I believe I've read nearly every thread on the F80/F84 Lithium Ion battery in terms of price and it being BMW proprietary. I have a 2015 F80 with 23,000 miles which spent its first 5 years in San Diego, now it is in Connecticut in my garage for the winter on the CTEK charger.
I'm interested in what people are seeing for longevity on the battery. Can you provide:
Thanks in advance for your feedback. |

2017 with 15k miles
Original battery with no issues. This is my first winter owning the car so I picked up a Ctek charger while it sits for a few months. |

Model Year: 2016 (April build)
Mileage: less than 40,000 miles Whether the original battery has been replaced: No Additional note: A couple of years ago I plugged an LED shop light into the trunk 12V port and forgot about the light. It ran the battery down to the point where there was no response at all, car wouldn't even turn over, no lights, etc. I jumped the battery from my wife's M3 and then drove it for about an hour. After I got home the car restarted just fine. I put my CTEK Lithium battery charger on it and went through the "restoration" cycle. The battery has been fine since then.

If anyone uses BimmerLink they can check their charge status. Mine doesn't really go above 87%. Mine is a 2018 with 16k.

This information really helps me. I just picked up a used 2015 M4 and was looking at all the maintenance items, I saw the cost of a replacement battery damn, that is one spendy battery. The rest of the stuff makes sense, well, mostly.
