Lightweight Front Lip Install Notes/Photos

Today I received my lip and here are some notes on the installation, which took about an hour and did not require me to lift the car or take off the wheels.

The lip it self is a very good thickness and is well made, the holes are drilled absolutely perfectly and the lip aligns correctly with no extra effort aside from starting the screws into the factory holes. After you drill a coupe holes and reach into the bumper to fix the washer and nut for each one the job is practically done.

I have to note the BMW did a fantastic job making those fender liners, at first i thought they would never go back in easily, but once i was done they slipped right back into place and all the holes lined up perfect for the retaining factory screws.

If you follow the provided instructions it's pretty straight forward as long as you use your imagination to fill in some of the mistranslated words.

I could not get one of the 6mm bolts in on either side of the bumper because of how far into the bumper cavity they were, but even with just three bolts and two screws on each side (and the four center ones in the factory location) the lip fits very snug and tight.

The only advise i really have to give is whichever side you are working on, turn the wheel in that direction so the tire is facing outward, this will give you room to remove every factory retaining screw (9 on each side) and the fender liner without having to turn the wheel until you do the next side.

If you are doing this in your driveway like my self, use the 6mm drill bit or the standard equivalent, but don't use a drill because it won't fit under the bumper. Instead just get it to catch in the bumper plastic first and then with a vice grip give it a full turn in and out. The bumper is so soft that it will perfectly make the 6mm hole you need on the sides without you needing to lift the car.

Here are some pictures, of it on the car.

This is the only good lip option IMO, and it follows the concept M4 design perfectly.

I really like this lip. Good to see it on a consumer car, not their car with the blacked out parts of the bumper and top of lights.

How are you liking this lip? Any regrets or drawbacks (i.e. wish they would've done this instead)?

I trimmed the center two spacers by about an 1/8" to reduce the curve of the lip. All four spacers are the same size and the front inlet curves so the spacers in the center are lower than the outer (if that makes sense).
