My condolences for the loss of your father.

Welcome to the family, awesome post. I am actually moving down to the Baltimore area, what is the recommendation for BMW dealership?

Car washes/Bays?

Thank you for your kind words.

It's awesome that you're moving to Baltimore area.

As for BMW dealerships around Baltimore, I don't usually visit them aside from an occasional test drive or a parts purchase (mostly DIY). If I had to list my top 3, I'd say I had good buying experience with BMW of Annapolis. Good encounters with BMW of Silver Spring and BMW of Towson. All of these 3 are M certified.

Can't help much in regards to carwash places, since I usually hand wash or use one of those self service places.

Such an AWESOME ED experience & writeup. You really saw a lot of cool places.

Sorry to hear about your father. But I really enjoyed the car/family back story on your journey to your ED. You really can't go wrong in Southern Germany/Austria and Italy. I see you discovered my Sella region.

The Berchtesgaden Salt mines are a great way to spend half a day under ground. You didn't post a picture of yourself going down one of those slides? Did you go see the Ötzi man - while in that area ?

I agree on your thought on the Hahntennjoch. I drove it last year on our way to Imst and then Solden/Timmselsjoch and down to Sella.

Btw... you can find Rain-X over here. The orange hardware store chain called OBI (they are all over Germany) sell Rain-X. Although a small 100ml bottle costs 10 euros. :/

Sorry for your loss OP...

I've read many ED reports and did it myself for the F80. This is definitely one of the top ones. Thanks for sharing!

No problem, we are all family...

Its with mixed emotions the move to Baltimore but its my time to rotate.

Same here have been to Silver Spring they seemed to be decent, when I lived in NOVA I used BMW of Sterling, VA.

Yeah I am looking for one of the Self Service places any in the Hanover/ BWI area?

Weather in Germany generally sucks. Mostly cold with rain unless you are lucky that week.

Congrats on the car and delivery, and thanks for sharing with us. My condolences for your fathers passing...

For service in the Baltimore area give Gint a call, I think he is at BMW of Towson now. He used to be in Rockville and was my SA for a decade - a true gentleman and with a passion for cars just like us. Tell him Andrei sent you and he'll treat you well.

Thank you for sharing OP! I truly believe the most meaningful experiences in life are the ones you had to sacrifice for. You've done your family proud by taking care of them. I hope you enjoy your time with your mother as long as possible. Enjoy your new car in good health!

My wife and I did an ED with our e90 6 years ago and are about to do another one for an f80 in September. Your post got me really excited all over again! Thanks again!

Dachel, your trip reports from the Dolomites region has been an inspiration. It was surreal seeing those mountains at top of the sella pass, since I've seen them before from your sella trips.
I saved Timmselsjoch and few others in the area for next time.

Ötzi man- I've heard about this since it was suggested to me by my cousin. But I totally forgot about it when I was in the region.

The Berchtesgaden Salt mines: attaching a pic of going down the first slide. I got to wear those silly overalls. Then they gave me a little radio since the tour was in German. Right before the tour guide would speak, he'd press a button on the transmitter and I'd hold the radio to my ear to hear a english audio. I actually liked the tour and learned something, and the underground lake and a light show was worth seeing.

Thanks for the tip about Rain-x. Probably not very known there, since couple of gas stations I asked didn't have a clue.
The Rain Clear gel I got from ATU in Munich did the job so it worked out in the end.

Thank you. Yeah the weather wasn't ideal but I didn't mind 9:30 PM sunsets. It only got dark after 10pm if I remember correctly.

Yeah that's a lot for 8 days. But don't worry, you'll adjust accordingly next time.

Thanks, I am starting to miss Germany and my car as well. It was like a petrolhead fairytale, driving one of the best cars in the world in some of the best roads in the world.

Thanks, everyone seems to get 19s or ZCP 20s while 18s doesn't get a lot of coverage.
Besides, WEIGHT REDUCTION, BRO!

Thanks.
Spending 3 night in that [Nurburg] area was a perfect ending for my trip.
I still have several gigs of video from Gran Turismo event, need to edit and post. Recorded some nice sounding porsche's and whatnot

thank you for your kind words.
I wanted to keep it a low profile with this classic combo but quite a few people still noticed and asked about it. Also, 18s with meaty sidewalls look decent in their own way, sort of similar to classic bimmers of the past.

Sorry for the confusion about top speed, I've updated the first post. I meant the factory top speed with the speed limiter in place.
