Check yours when the car is cool. If you do it right after it's been running, unscrewing the lid might be tough to do.

Since I've changed my top mount intercooler to a CSF, I've been a little paranoid that the shop didn't install right so I've been checking the reservoir but so far so good it seems.

Man you to need to drive more. I paid a kings ransom for this car, plus I love driving it. So here’s to 200k with no problems.

I haven't had one single f8x too long but I've had 3 over the past 5 years and put 70k+ miles on them total without any serious issues. My '16 needed front shock mounts and the evap froze on my '18 which was fixed with software. Each car had some good track miles so I've gone through some consumables but that's to be expected. Overall they've been great cars and the g80 will have to be really special for me to sell my current f80.

Wow! I wonder how many miles your red 335i had when you replaced it with your f8x!?

So I just left the dealership for my annual inspection, emissions, replacement of the windshield washer pump (may have been my fault for using a sub-par fluid creating algae; not sure), and brake fluid change.

I like taking the car to the dealership for inspection/emissions. It's a great dealership and they have never tried to get me to replace something that didn't need replaced - at the same time, they do stuff like give me a video walk under of the car and show me how every single thing looks under the car and they look for ANY signs of leakage or worn components to claim.

Anyway, just wanted to share at about 66k miles and 61 months of age my car continues with no leaks or visible suspension wear. Nothing needs replaced - original brakes for example. Just extremely pleased with the vehicle overall.

They accidentally gave me a "free" oil change in the process, which is nice. Charged me $30 for a filter, lol.

Intercooler and charge air cooler coolant levels OK too? Yours is an early car.

Dude you need to change out your top mount inter cooler because it is likely leaking all of your coolant into your engine which is BAD. Its a known issue on higher mileage cars.

As a F8X long term owner, developing a habit to check the charge air coolant tank is necessary.

I will say check it when the car is cold every two weeks.

Red335i, I'm at 118K on my 15' M4. Commute 45 miles each way; live in downtown Chicago work in northwest indiana suburbs. Love every minute of driving it. Drive it rain, snow, or shine. No major issues except a pcv leak at around 95k and alternator at 60k. I am lowered on swifts and am thinking about changing out the shocks at some point. I drive through some crazy bumps/pot holes in the city. I am stage 2 tune/full bolt ons and plan to go pure stage 2 this upcoming summer.

I can't tell you how many times people think my car is new and i'm like yeah it has over 100k! Everything is about how you take care of a car. It helps that i'm OCD af lol. The motor and build quality on the F8x is superb. Ive had both low and high mile e46 and e92 m3s. The f8x is by far the most reliable and impressive machine. This platform is going down in the history books. I remember as a kid being in awe seeing high mile modded supras be bulletproof when ever other car would fall apart.

Pretty bulletproof besides a recent valvetronic motor failing, replaced under warranty. But I've had luck with all my M's because even out of warranty, I;ve never had any major issues. I have just over 2 years left of warranty, and if the new G82 doesn't excite me, I might hold on to this one.

Alternator bearing failure

I was hearing a high pitched buzzing sound around 1500 to 2000 rpm whether stationary or moving.
Turns out it is a faulty alternator replacement cost £1500+
The car was 6 months out of warranty with around 50k mileage but BMW were excellent and reduced the charge to £150 goodwill payment.
Fair play to BMW for excellent customer service

What is included in the annual inspection - did you pay extra for that? From the service schedule i have, there is only a scheduled oil change every 15k km and a brake fluid change (not sure if that is after 1 yr or 2 yrs). When I had my last oil change the only thing they did was change the oil and check the filter.

For those who have high mileage or are planning to keep the car longer, are you just doing the scheduled service (ie oil change, brake fluids) and than do the usual wear and tear service (ie brakes) when needed? Anybody doing any other preventative maintenance?

New radiator at ~1300 miles. Ate a box cutter through the grill and sprung a leak. Other than that, only routine maintenance and a patched tire due to a puncture from a framing nail. Odometer just past 13k now.

Just had to replace my oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket on my 2015 M3 with 52k. Typical failure point is the stupid oil filter housing gasket.

Geico MBi took care of the repair minus the $250 deductible.

Are these still a common issue on the S55? I am used to it from my n54 and n55 days but never heard of it still being a problem on the S55.

You’ll need to buy a new intercooler since your core is leaking. I’d probably go with Wagner.

Do it ASAP before you contaminate your oil with coolant. Also do an oil change ASAP.
