I think I may have been scammed

Hi,

I recently tried to purchase a Remus exhaust from the member classified section from FastM3CT. Anyway, it took him forever to ship the exhaust, even after several follow ups. It made me nervous and had to eventually cancel because it did not feel right, especially with excuses he was making. I paid him $1,200 via Venmo, but mot the second installment. Well, glad I didn't. I asked him for the last time yesterday and his excuse was that he was catching a plane to see his kids and not to worry about it, and still no payment or receipt that I asked for. He goes by Mike and apparently has threads selling things, but that's it. Not sure if it's a real profile and another member behind that profile. Anyway, it's screwed up. His profile says he's a lieutenant from CT, and his real name is Mariusz G. It's doesn't take more than 15 sdx to send the money back, yet he reposts the Remus ad again.

Bummer. Sadly that’s the risk you take with you this bs.

Post this in his new ad.

Never do Venmo, Zelle or Friends & Family. It's asking to get ripped off…

Sorry bro.

Bimmerpost members have been able to get money back for another member on here. There is a detective on the forum who can help you. Can't remember his name though.

Dude this freaking sucks! Was he able to refund the amount you paid for through Venmo,
since his AD is back up? Shit happens, But time and money are involved - it's either for sale ready to ship or not. Going through PayPal is much better for security purposes for your future purchases.

It was nice talking to you at the San Mateo C&C at the beginning of the month! Looks like you got convinced to go Remus! Sad to hear about this though.

Dang sorry to hear that. Looks like he's been here for a little while and is still active, so hopefully it was just some bad communication. I almost bought the carbon mirror caps he has posted, but backed out since all he accepted was venmo, cashapp, or zelle and that always raises red flags for me.

Yes unfortunately, no matter how much high someone's "itrader" score or clout someone has on the forums. Always paypal goods and services. Or the new venmo good and services so you have some type of recourse. Good to save money buying used, but willing to cover the goods and services expenses for that peace of mind.

Hey man!

Yeah it was a bummer. I should've kept my order with Mike at XPH, but really needed to make an ultimate decision after this incident to save it for the future. I may be able to recover my money, but it's was a learning experience. Hopefully, it wasn't a scam, but I should have received my money back by now.

You're car had a nice set-up. I'll use what I have for now, and just wait it out a little longer after this experience.

I think Venmo now has buyer protection for a small fee.

I had a guy try to scam me 6 years ago on an exhaust (https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1132853). I googled the e-mail address he sent me and found it associated with multiple sites attempting to scam people. Best of luck to ya

This guy is still active in the forums and scammed someone else. How to do we expose him? He might just make another profile?

I suggest that no one tags his username in this thread.

To play a little devil's advocate here...he appears to be actively selling and buying quite a few things but I'm not seeing anyone responding to the threads he's generated saying that they've been scammed. He's also appears to help out other forum members. I'm no behaviorist by any means but the history of his threads and posts doesn't necessarily scream out scammer; at least in this direct forum.

If this is in fact a scam...I stumbled upon this thread https://f10.m5post.com/forums/showth...2#post27793522. He posted a tire with a shipping label on a tire which appears to have been recently mounted on his vehicle. Shipping label has the following address:
BMW of Northwest Arkansas | BMW Dealer in Bentonville, AR.
He also states his general whereabouts in that thread.

His VIN can be found here if anyone can make out the characters
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765011

Looks like some other forum members know him personally
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1057345

I'm sure there's more information that can be gathered.

Last two times I ran into scammers they both claimed they were in active military service. Sad to say a lot of these guys use that as part of the con to gain trust. Not saying this is the case here it's just been my experience.
