all updates are minor at best, but if it's true that the only new colors they're adding are Champagne Quartz and Smoked Topaz, I'm going to be downright pissed. If they offered to knock $10k off the price of the car for choosing either of those colors, I wouldn't take it.

please tell us that was just some cruel joke

I am curious what "updated" iDrive means

Some people don't need this car. They want it. And they can wait.

I'm one of those people. When the F80 competition package arrives, I will buy it. Whenever that may be.

I picked up my E92 M3 right before the LCI upgrade hit and was pretty bummed. I am about to pick up my M4 and hoping it won't be as significant as it was in the past.

Well M4 LCI is probably 2 years out anyway so you're good. This is M3 only.

Even though the LCI tail lights are the same physical size the wiring might be a big pain. The turn signal now lights up a portion of the trunk whereas it didn't before. Sadly I don't think the retrofit will be quite as simple as dropping them in and coding.

From an engineering standpoint, I HIGHLY doubt it. That would mean designing, testing, and producting new multimillion dollar stamping dies for the bodywork, which people would barely notice.

You can always wait for the next "big thing"... and there will always be something newer, better, prettier, faster, more powerful right around the corner.

Jason, thanks for summary but your info is not official as you state yourself.
When will BMW announce LCI details for M3?
Will LED become standard?
Will current packages change?
When new colors will be displayed?

I think BMW owes us for the wait and excitement we build here

Nobody needs this car, all of us who have it want it! You waited a year, now one more for the Comp package, the extra 20hp or so? Please help us understand your reasoning :

The trunk section already receives power/wiring because the old lights also light up the trunk section, just not for blinkers.

LOL, but seriously, this is a very underwhelming LCI refresh so I would not be sad if I had a 2015. If anything, this validates what many have said about rather having a 2015 and enjoying it now rather than waiting for the LCI.

Yeah, the E9x LCI was significant. You may need to shift your buy/holding pattern to match up with BMW's LCI refresh cycle

I wonder if the newly revised LED headlights will make into 16 M3? The one where LED day time running light connects to the grill? Seems odd not to include them.

Because that info has not been released/announced.

But it's clear from the photos alone what will/will not change cosmetically.

As I have posted many times, LCI and comp pack are not related. There are still rumours that a comp pack will be introduced in 2016, probably coinciding with the "GTS".
