Thoughts
Hi guys, i currently have a f82 just hit 20k miles! Driving this beast is amazing i love it! But before each ride i always overthink the miles etc because i do not want to be racking up miles, i dont know. I have been driving less lately and take it on joy rides on a good day with great weather of the week, now ive been thinking… once i see it hot maybe 40 or even 30k should i look at another f8x cs with low mileage? To exchange?!! Any tips advice

You can drive it to 100k miles if you like. They're solid, don't need changing too early (unless you get bored ).

As somebody who ain't too bright and is on his 3rd F8x (with an unfortunate G82 inbetween), my best advice would be to keep the car you have unless issues start popping up or you have enough money burning a hole in your pocket that it doesn't matter. You have the correct idea in upgrading to a CS model if you do in fact make the switch, but I'd recommend sticking with what you have because cost of entry to a CS is still high and my thoughts are you won't really see big differences between the cars unless you plan on tracking them (where the CS is superior obviously).
The itch is very hard to deal with though and I understand that, if I had to do it all over again I'd still have my original F82 from about a year ago as I'm now on my 4th car in about a year (and I'm basically right back where I started lol). Just trying to help you out here. Also keep in mind you might just be buying at the absolute top of the market. Used car values are completely insane, and if anything I kick myself for not buying that low mile 2016 GT4 that Carmax had in the summer of 2020 for about $78k. Woe is me, I could have driven the wheels off it for the past year or so and probably made $20k. |

Yeah you’re in the top of the line F8X, just keep it long term instead of trading into a lower mileage version of the exact same car. These things are built real well, and you have the privilege of knowing what’s happened in the car’s life. Don’t worry about mileage cause it’s all about smileage and that ain’t happening if you aren’t driving the car

The sole reason I have a f8x and had a E92 and a C7 and a blah blah blah... is because I love driving!!! and in any weather so I am always looking for a reason to go for a spin ... not everyone that owns a F8x shares the same passion for driving and has different reasons for buying one but its hard for me to understand people that try to" keep the miles low" for the next guy. YO
If your into keeping the miles low thinking your gonna (save?) money down the road when you sell or trade it.....maybe your next car try a lease? you have way better self control over driving your M car than I do. That way you know ahead of time how much you will spend in the next 3 years or whatever. Otherwise like others have said...just keep it and start driving more. |

There are E60 M5s with well over 200k miles on the clock. If that thing can get to 200k, your CS isn't gonna melt down at 30k miles. Or 60k. Or 200k.
Take care of it, do preventative maintenance, polish it, wax it, and drive the piss out of it.

Unless a GTS that you bought to collect dust, where your heirs will enjoy the proceeds when you expire - enjoy driving as many miles as you can! I heard too much great sex can break ones pepee, also! 😛

I was definitely feeling the same for a while, but at this point I don't even look at the odometer much. After that 50/60k mark it's just whatever and i'm about to cross 70k in the next month or so.
I've done a TON of work over the last 10k miles between the crank hub fix, clutch and preventative maintenance so I intend to keep this thing as long as it continues to be interesting to me. In the case of OP and having a CS - I'd just enjoy it. You've got the peak of the model series and even 30-40k is still quite low mileage.

People who bought a GTS and don’t drive them, street or track, are just missing out on a fun car. While not “high”, I have almost 8k miles on mine and that does appear to be more than most that come up for sale. I bought the car for my enjoyment, not the next owner.
