S55 Engine Limits ?

Hi all if i decide to get upgraded turbos, what is the max power range before having to change out engine internals ?

I have an upgraded intercooler and heat exchanger as well as FBO Stage 2 parts and VTT Spline Crankhub

The turbos are rated for above 700 hp but wondering whats a good power area before having to upgraded the engine.

93 Octane fuel only as Ethanol is not available here

Hoping to get in the low 5s range for 100-200 timing ( whats a good hp to achieve this ? )

and will I be able to achieve 4s range on stock internals ?

Power is not the regular issue. Torque is more important and how the car is mapped. Lots of torque at low revs kills engines. Too much load on the pistons and rods under a longer period is what normally what creates issues.

I would probably ask Carbahn Autoworks for their opinion…

As M4Fun said, it's torque that breaks stuff. I've been watching S55 posts for a while now and it seems the risk comes in above 700TQ, then an engine rod bends. Most tuners can easily limit TQ to the safe range without requiring upgraded motor internals.

Horsepowerwise they seem to be able to handle up to 800 hp quite well if torque is limited. A bit over 700 is not that uncommon today and seems to work fine for a lot of guys.
Of course good knowledge, common sense and knowing hot to treat the engine is vey important, as always.
