Can I retrofit the OEM manual rear sunshade?
Apologies if this has been discussed in depth before, but is this even possible? And is it economically viable?
Thanks for your input! |

Possible, definitely yes. Economically, no. You have to replace the whole door panels and window trim. Will probably cost upwards of $3000

The current door panel is simply modified. There are NO Door Panels specifically for a window shade. If there was, it would cost you well NORTH of $3000 as you clearly have not looked at the cost of replacement door panels. |

But why - Sunshades go with minivans whereas high quality tint (less weight and no-rattles) goes with M car. Just my view, to each their own.

assuming someone wants to install the rear manual sun vizors, wouldn't they need to purchase these new door trims? or you're saying that the current door trims can be cut? i thought about installing them as well but looking at the price of the door trims themselves, i just went with window tint + the OEM stick on vizors. EDIT: nevermind you answered the question in the post below. yeah screw that. i'll just stick with what i have now.

Last time I checked prices on door panels they were in the $1600-$1700 range several years ago. I’d be surprised if BMW actually had a price reduction. |

My car came fully loaded including this rear sunshade. First time having a car with this feature.
-Mine's up all the time and I'm also tinted 20% all around -I'd option it out if available moving forward -I would not spend the money to retrofit as it's not that important to me
