I have had nothing but appreciation from everyone ranging from guys sweeping up at McDonalds to a tourist who teaches at a car repair school in Germany to an engineer driving a train. I took a spring break road trip in Florida and by coincidence overlapped with a few hundred thousand bikers enjoying bike week. It was completely unexpected to see bikers pointing out my car to each other.

After 10 minutes of bike week, I will never describe my car as loud.

I get a swet on driving in London with my M6 GC CP in Alpine White, people are so jealous of it.
I have to be careful where i park it too.
PS) Ever one wants to race it also.

Drive through Greenwich/New Canaan CT, now that is the richest place in the USA. You could spit and hit a 300K car in any direction. (maybe not rated number one but, dam they are rich) I don't think they would bat an eye at an M3/M4

Maybe it is just me but I want to be noticed in my bad ass M3. The x5m is not stock and has flashy 22 inch wheels and I feel unless there is a car enthusiast no one knows what it is. (love roasting mustangs and Camaros) this is not my main reason for purchase but went with the YAS instead of white so the car does not blend in. BTW the M3 is going to be the wife's DD

I was driving in my M4 and could not believe the attention I was receiving! People were getting out of their cars at stop lights to take pictures. Attractive women were flagging me down to give me their phone numbers. Drivers of Porsche GT3s and Corvette Z06s were trying to race me. A crew that was filming a movie stopped what they were doing and pointed the cameras at my car.
And then I woke up.

I am getting a bit of rage from fellow BMW owners... usually 535's, E92 non M's.

Usually cutting me off or just peeling off to show me how cool their car is too.

The M4 blends in quite a bit (less the carbon roof) but do you guys find people give thumbs up?, nod in appreciation, or cut you off and and try to race you etc.......

Or do people not even notice or care 99.9% of the time(I'm kind of expecting this considering my car will be Alpine white)

Just curious with everyone's experience
It's a COMPLETE mixture of things. But then again, I live in a pretty narcissistic area (Miami).

Oh man, I thought i was the only one! With all the panties being thrown in my direction, I've actually run out of room in the passenger side glove compartment and have had to resort to using the driver side glove compartment. And the other day, this dude was like sick car bro and I was like totally like yeah man. What a great, great way to start February. Still high off the buzz.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the attention. The only real problem is that I've almost wrecked the damn thing a few times because I'm so busy looking around and waving at all the admirers. Can be so distracting.

Well then the culture must be quite a bit different where you are - E9xs are definitely always trying to race here on the west coast. That said, I did pass one this weekend and just exchanged thumbs up, but ... yeah the F8xs get a lot of attention.

In my experience the worst BMW offenders are the 335s - if someone flys past me on the freeway there's a 95% chance it's a 335.

Don't get me wrong...I've seen the stereotypical chest-pumping street racer while driving.

I just think it's bit far fetched to say that the only drivers trying to street race M4's are the ones in e9x M3's and/or modded 335i's. There are plenty of douchebags on the streets, and they aren't limited to older M3's and 335i's....or M4's for that matter.

Had a black (murdered) out E9x 328 blow by me on a busy 4 lane roadway during this morning's commute.

Passed him by at the next light while he waited to turn. Didnt bother even looking his way.

VW Golf R32 smoked away from my M4 at the lights and around a sharp bend onto the motorway last weekend. The conditions were night time darkness and 50 metres visibility in fog. Such an extreme case of little man syndrome that he was willing to endanger himself and others. Nice one, enjoy your golf...

After running my GTR for 5years, I have seen a lot of what you describe above...stupidity comes in all flavors.

Haven't seen too much of it yet with the M4, but I've only had it since Nov. so it's still early on our recently dry pavement here.

In my 27 years as a Volunteer on an emergency squad, I have cut many of those "stupid people" out of there cars and sent them off to the hospital.

I love to track my cars...but only on the TRACK

had a GTI beef with me today on the highway. tailgate tailgate tailgate, I finally just slow way down and he guns it as fast as he can to my left (which he should've done in the first place). Just because I can haul ass doesn't mean I will all the time.

Also another (ANOTHER) 5 series today with major beef. What is with you 5-series owners?

I get compliments almost every time I drive. Today I got 2:

1. Guy with sign at exit ramp asking for money. I didn't give any, but he still yelled, "Nice car!"
2. Guy in a Toyota Corolla to the right of me at a stop light. My top was down and wife was in the passenger seat. When he saw my car, almost uncontrollably, he yelled, "You sexy beast! I'm sorry, I mean the car. When I grow up, I want to be like you."
