So much variation can occur in the production planning. Shortages in parts, change in demand of the M models and other models, etc...they will pump more out if they have the demand, production capacity and available parts to produce.
If you have a subscription to Automotive News, it has a data center that has sales by model - not quite production, but close enough. Problem is it is 200 or 600 i think depending on subscription type. I used to work with Nissan, so used to get it for free. If anyone knows anyone in the automotive industry (sales and marketing/HQ not dealerships, though maybe some have it) they can prob get a recent copy and check it out.

Yea we've waved to each other a couple of times. He's probably thinking the same thing. We both hate each other.

I suppose murdering the other driver and setting his car on fire is a 3rd option to think about......sure, maybe a little 'extreme', 'outside the box' or 'mavericky' but it *would* solve the problem. I mean, even if you were caught, you sure wouldn't have to worry about sitting next to him at a light for the next 25 years to life, right? right?
Hahahaha. Yes, when we're both next to each other I'm sure there's a collective mumbling of words like "douchebags" and "assholes" under the breath of many a fellow motorist on the roads around us. Cause, why else would someone get a bright blue BMW other than to show the world that they're a dick. It has nothing to do with being passionate about cars and wanting to drive one of the finest sport sedans on the planet.

Are you saying my MW diminishes my "dickness" level? BMW should add that to their performance specs...i I would have taken another color.

Sucks that BMW has such a limited pallette. I was afraid this would happen in SoCal. I guess the alternative is Individual.

You mean a limited "free or cheap" palette

They will give you just about ANY color you want...

Yeah there are a few colors that I would have loved to have, but just can't justify the extra cost for "paint" I struggle with the 550 because its metallic.

Mind you, I can spend that on other stuff that is much more fleeting but its the principle

I rarely see an F8X where I live, now if I go to SF that's a different story, so many sport cars there, reminds me of LA

Bmw is making too many M4/M3. This might be the worst M car to retain value.
I see almost 2-3 a day in NYC.

Most common colors, White, Black, Blue & Grey.

Yeah, probably not. BMW produced WAY more E46 M3's than they did E9X's, and going by allocations the F8x production volumes seem about the same as the E9x. Resale value on this car will be fine.

well, it IS manhattan. the thing is, i see a lot more M4s than I do M3s. the sedans don't seem to be as popular.

that being said, yes, there are quite a few of them... all in the colors that you mentioned.

I wish. This is a legitimate other person. Can't see if he's got the Silverstone leather too, but it's the same on the outside. Twice in the past week we were right next to each other at a light. I need to start driving to work earlier or later.
In a year and a half I've seen two M4s and one M3 in Columbus Ohio. I guess we are poor folk here!

Interestingly there is a forum member that lives about a mile from me with the exact same build. I have yet to see or meet him. :

Same here, but we are not exactly the cool car capital of the country. I've only seen two other M4s and zero F80 M3s.

Not a lot around here either. There is one other one in my building (white), I saw another white one in Mountain view over the summer, I've seen 2 YMBs in the last year, and last week I saw an AY in downtown Mountain View.

Pretty rare around here at least where I drive. I actually see way more 991 Porsches, and see an M4 about as often as I see a Ferrari.

I'm in the Portland OR area and see very few F80s. I do see an F82 at least once a week. These cars are pretty rare here for sure.

Im in the northern chicago suburbs. 991s are as common as camrys around me. Ive only seen about 6 F8X m3/4s over the last couple years. Ive seen much more mclarens and ferraris than f8x's.

It seems as though M3s are rarer than M4s. Even on dealer lots, we always have M4s and never M3s. Would love to see the actual production numbers between the two.

I feel like BMW producers more M4s than they should. Makes getting M3s that much harder.

Getting an M3 is based on how many M3s they make, not how many M4s. But BMW probably didn't estimate properly. From a press article, BMW estimated that a massive 61 per cent of sales would go to the M4 coupe during the car’s life cycle, which is followed by 28 per cent for the M4 convertible and 11 per cent for the M3. This was based on E9X sales.

Obviously, demand for the M3 is more than 11 percent.

Yes agreed. What I meant was they are making a disproportionate number of M4s which means less M3s.
