Can anyone who has seen YMB in person comment on how accurate the color representation is in this photo:

You can't see the metallic paint at all in that pic. Its a little funky in person. It has depth but also accentuates how light the color is. Under those lamps in car shows, it looks a bit darker than in real light outside from what the guys from BMW working the show told me. None of us thought of it as a great color because it is such a light blue!! Not pale in any way though. As long as you really like light baby blue, you'll love it.

i think estoril blue is one of the most elegant M colors out there. its an original M color and they put it on every non-m car they can think of now. even that M235i behind the F80 looks classy. anyways, wouldn't bother special ordering estoril on an F80/82 since it will look really close to 50% of the M sport cars.

YMB i'm on fence but haven't seen it for real. very tired of white and it looks like in general the popular cars are in blues lately.

oh as for porsche. they have long history of some fantastic light blues. gulf blue, riviera blue *my favorite, mexico blue, turquoise blue, maritime blue....

all of them are here http://teamspeed.com/forums/porsches...d-porsche.html

Thanks for the feedback!
Im with you on liking it sometimes and not other times. That said, I couldnt own that color. I'd be all over San Marino Blue if offered but YMB reminds me of a smurf unfortunately...Smurf Blue

haha, thats a very good friend of mine's car. its riviera blue 997.2 GT3. it was special ordered paint. the color is from 993 days.

i am guessing riviera would be much deeper than ymb. its more like a lightened laguna seca blue with the green tones in it.

because its a 235. the M2 will probably be a bulging hulking little M car. hoping its very limited to last year of that model run and with a 4 cylinder turbo.

Your description of the color makes me think this may be more accurate...?

Yes but you still have to see the metallic paint in person. The sparkling effect is quite striking. For me not in a good way. I also think your pic looks a bit duller looking at the grass and the background

Wink

When I first saw this color, I was like, "that is a total chick color". But the more I saw the car in the other available colors, the more I realized this is the only color that feels "M". Its totally growing on me! Dropped on some gray concave wheels, carbon and gloss black accents, and tint, this thing will be a stunning vehicle.

I really havent seen anybody mention that this color is similar to the blue in the M logo, which is kind of why it feels right to me. You'd only have to add the purple and orange to make an M accent on the car.

I had this same feeling with Laguna Seca Blue, which I initially hated until they stopped making it and realized it was the most "M" color offered on E46. Now, I really only like LSB and white E46s.

My disclaimer is that I have not seen the car in person...but even if it is a lot lighter than the autoshow lights, I don't think that will bother me. I had LeMans blue once, and that was waaay too dark for me.

My guess is, that they will make this color only 2015...and that the LCI will not offer YMB. <--hey look he is also YMB

I agree with your view so far and have had the same feeling. I was leaning towards getting the black wheels for now just for those reasons you pointed out ( I think gray wheels would look awesome)

Its a shame there are no west coast auto shows with the car anytime soon. Was hoping that Portland would have it (even though thats still a decent drive from LA) but have not seen any signs of it yet.

In person it looks like powder blue. Go to any grocery store or pharmacy, go to the diaper section, and look for the blue they use on stuff for boys.

The M3 looks beefy in person, no doubt. However the blue looks like Milk of Magnesia with pixie dust sparkles in it
