just pry it apart. the mount should be able to install with no interference from mirror cover and if it doesnt, then its probably not the correct mount. there are slightly different mounts for the two mirror styles.

Is this the Blendmount BMW-006 or BMW-007? Which options do you have on your car (which could affect which mirror you have)?

I have the Executive Package, Lighting Package (uses a camera for the auto dimming headlights), and the Driver Assistance Plus Package. My mirror looks different than yours. From the pictures on the Blendmount site, it looks like the BMW-006 is the mount that I need.

Instead of prying, just push down in the center of the plastic cover with your thumb - it will pop apart.

Works every time.

I have the same packages as you do and I bought the BMW-007 for my Escort X50. It fits great without any issues.

Thanks for the feedback! I PM-ed a couple of people several weeks ago and they both said BMW-007. My mirror just doesn't look like the rather bulky one that is shown in the picture for the BMW-007, it's the triangular-shaped mirror shown for BMW-006, so yesterday I took pictures and sent it to Blendmount for their expert opinion. They replied this morning "that's definitely the BMW-006 mirror", so I'm ordering that one today.

If anyone is planning on ordering one, you can get 12.5% off with this link: http://blendmount.refr.cc/5Z7X29Z

Was that a question? Here's a couple of pics of the mirror in my 2016 M4 Coupe w/Executive Package, Lighting Package, and Driver Assistant Plus.

I got my Blendmount via USPS Priority Mail today and installed it. Fits perfectly. This was SKU #BV1-2017 as recommended by Blendmount for the BMW-006 type mirror.

There is a difference between the mount for the BMW-006 and BMW-007 mirror types, based on the pictures of the mount for the BMW-007 mirror type as posted above. I didn't take pictures of the one I received, but the part identified as "body assembly" in my instructions is not a U-shaped yoke, but is only mounted from one side to the "vertical adjustment" piece, not both sides as shown in the picture below. Everything else appears to be identical, including the two parts that actually clamp to the mirror stem, shown as P/N 09-07 and P/N 09-08 in pictures above.

I don't know the reason for the difference, but after everything was mounted and tightened down, it's solid as a rock. In fact, while the Blendmount is solid, I was surprised at how loosely the V1 fits in it's own plastic mount.

I finished hardwiring my Escort Max II from the fuse box in the trunk to my blendmount under the rear view mirror (after deciding against the mirror tap). Does this look like an adequate ground connection? It’s the metal screw above the footrest on my f80.

The best (easy and cleanest) solution. I use this for all my cars. Highly recommended.
