when you installed on F34, did you had to call bimmertech and get in thouch with one of their tech. on the phone? for remote coding?
the reason I am asking you this is that... I called bimmertech about the info. for installation on F80 6MT(lastweek), and the guy on the phone told me I had to get my car coded for rearview camera, than it will work. they told me they will send me the cable for coding (in the rearview camera kit), so they can remote code it over the internet.

anyhow, did you get yours installed on your F82? how the installation when?

I was actually curious of the same so i called them up and asked, they said for a fee of $30-40 they can mod the kit that if you hold on to a curtain button it will display the rear view camera and will stay on till you press the button again. This is only possible if you go with the "Rear View Camera Retrofit" (the full screen one) not the oem one or the oem integration.

Thank you for your order and the feedback. It's been corrected.

Im about to order one for my F80 6MT, but just can't find any DIY video for F3X or F8X...
With all camera kits we sell the camera comes on automatically when you put the car in reverse.

For anyone who has installed one of these recently -- is the newer version of the backup camera for the 2015 M3 (manual transmission) truly plug and play? Do you need to run wires to the navigation/head unit in the front dash or is all the wiring in the trunk area?

No. I learned the hard way. You have to tap into the reverse bulb on manual transmissions, and run that all the way into the box that you hide in the dash.

We also have a rear view camera which does not require tapping or splicing even in manual cars. However you need to have the Navigation.
Installation is truly plug and play. Coding is required and included.

Hey Patrys - is the camera/door handle unit the same between the 2 kits? (Plug and play versus need to tap into reverse light? Are there fewer wires to run up front with the kit you need to tap into reverse lighting?

I got this installed by @nelson@bimmertech in Orlando, Florida and they did an amazing job. Obviously have done this MANY times to F80 M3's and F82 M4's. Had the camera installed within 2 hours, neatly ran each cable, zip tied everything just like OEM and super neat install. Then coded everything. Took a few rounds of edits from BimmerTech but they got it to work.

The only downside is for some reason now the 8 buttons under my nav screen won't let me program them says "Cannot be stored". Nelson has already reached out to me to schedule a Skype call with Bimmer Tech to fix. Overall, I'm thrilled with the install and OEM look and feel of everything.

Were they able to fix the 1-8 radio buttons? Have my kit sitting at home, plan on installing this weekend.

I just installed mine yesterday and had bimmertech code it today. There's no issue with the memory buttons.

Of course not. I installed it myself and it took about two hours. It's not hard if you feel comfortable pulling apart trims or door sills.

I'll be picking up one of these units as well. I unfortunately already damaged my rear bumper (ever so slightly) due to not having a rear view camera, so I'm not in a huge rush, as the damage to my bumper is so slight, I'd hate to pay for a repair at this point. But i am looking forward to getting this installed someday soon-ish

+1...that and I have kids crap strewn all about my driveway randomly...usually it's picked up, not always. In my truck no deal, just run the stuff over (oops, it's happened)...in the M3 I worry about some critical tube getting dislodged from the underbelly therefore necessitating a 40K engine change! That turns into an expensive razor scooter! Actually I like backing into parking spots, so it's a help. Just couldn't bring myself to spring for everything in the exec. pack...now have the 2 things I wanted, Sirius and backup cam...
