Best way to clean brake hats?

Ive noticed my brake hats have really gotten dirty over time and when I clean my wheels with a good wheel cleaner I try and clean them too and it doesnt seem to touch it. They arent completely brown they just dont have that same silver finish it used to? Maybe polish them , or even paint them?

I kinda wanna paint mine with matte black paint. The silver is kinda dirty looking.

Wire wheel them. I've done on my daily's calipers and it got all the crud off.

Use an iron remover like CarPro Iron X. First use a wheel cleaner, then when its removed spray on the iron remover and let it sit for a few minutes. It will change color if iron is present, then just rinse it off. Your hats should be clean after that. Once thing to note is that it will leave rust on the surface of the rotor so move the car back and forth while lightly holding the brakes to remove it.

Using a good wheel brush like a Speed Master helps as well.
