Looking for local LA shop for carbon roof re-clear

anyone know a legit shop that can do this?

i know theres 2M Autowerks in san deigo but dont have that kind of time, theyre also charging $1500 now.

Was wondering if anyone knew of a place local to LA/SFV.

Thanks

2M is worth the drive and cost IMO. They redid the roof on my e92 M3 which was chipping in a couple spots. Very professional, much higher quality prep work than other shops I've seen, and turn around time was not too long.

2k to sand clear coat and then respray clear coat?

sounds like highway robbery.

any body shop will/can do it for anywhere between 500-900. even this feels like highway robbery. i'd look into DIY

local body shop in bay area quoted me 600 to paint match and clear coat gts hood with labor and install. i'd expect just sanding clear coat and respraying will cost roughly similar price minus the cost of paint.

I don't think you can sand carbon fiber.

I never said you will sand the carbon. You sand the clear coat and then respray clear coat and then polish. It will be good as new.

The shop I went to stated they had to remove the front and rear windshield to have the roof properly re-cleared. However, judging from other posts regarding this, I've seen this being a 1.2k-2k job. Either way I'm not bothered since I did this through insurance. If you know a shop that does it for 500-900 as you say, feel free to send us those shop names so we could use them in the future!

What was your reason for the claim under insurance ?

Also, I read or heard from someone that the glass easily cracks when attempting to remove the front windshield. Or that might have been for the E90, I don’t remember anymore. Lol.

Did your buddy at the shop re do the whole roof (scrape/sand/air pressure the clear off and te Lear) or just ceramic coat it?
Looks really good in the IG post.

A construction truck had some small pebbles hit my roof and as a result, had some bad rock chips on my clearcoat. Insurance approved the repair.

And yeah, that's what my shop informed me, these can possibly be damaged in the process of repairing if not done right.

That's exactly the story i was going to come up with. just afraid they're gonna be like "so what if the clear coat is damaged" and not understand the importance of having the carbon fully covered. I have mercury insurance.

Welp, I guess its on your claims rep. When I went through mine, I didn't have an issue. An adjuster came to my house to inspect the damage and confirmed the clearcoat peel was caused due to deep rock chips. They went ahead and approved the fix for me and I brought it to the shop afterwards.
