How’s the noise with this clutch kit? Seems to be the perfect clutch for my set up and as a daily the stock clutch pedal feel would be ideal.

The noise is minimal, the only time I hear it is if I push the clutch pedal in, or the engine idle speed drops below 600 rpm. Other than that it sounds like stock.

Wanted to ask as I’m looking to upgrade my clutch.

Currently stage 2 on 93, with potential to go on e85, or maybe even upgraded turbos e85 down the line.

Want a clutch that is good for daily driving as well as can handle the power if I decide to push it. I’ve heard some nightmares regarding throw out bearings and reliability of some of these clutches. Any recommendations of which way to go?

I wasn’t planning to replace my clutch but may be compelled to address it soon. Last weekend I observed a lot of grease in the transmission bell housing which I believe is due to the DMF failing. Fortunately I don’t have any noticeable vibrations or unusual noises, but I suppose I’ll need to replace the flywheel in the near future and may as well do the clutch while in there. For anyone else who street/daily drives their F8X I’m curious which flywheel and clutch combinations you’ve used.

I went with the race version of this clutch and would not recommend it for a daily. Not that it's too heavy but it's on off so there is no slipping it for a smoother start. Not fun in stop and go traffic. The street version might be decent.

What drove you to make the decision to buy the race version of the FX850 for anything other than dedicated track use?

Which of the flywheel/clutch upgrade could give me some sort of feel like 997rs’s feel, it’s got single mass flywheel with chatter when not engaged, but I love the street user friendly feel of the 997,
Does anyone know which set could give the f82 a close feel to that. Cheers, I have ucp and auto solution short shift on car

Thanks

Also interested as may have my hand forced here too. Getting some vibration on engagement, shop reckons there is some play in the flywheel.

Will be tuning

Anyone have any experience with the PBT Wagner clutch? I'm currently running Spec SB55PT and I'm not a fan. I was considering switching to PBT or Xclutch. Car is making low 700whp.

Personally I would go with this: https://www.ptb-shop.de/Kupplungs-Ki...-M2--F87-.html

PBT - non Wagner.

I would do the DMFW and the sprung set up.

No chatter and it’ll hold over 700

I love my SMFW and sometimes it’s silent, but other times I want it to shut the fuck up haha

Brilliant post thank you!

I’m in Australia so I’m looking at the Xtreme organic atm, any positive feedback how is it under high heat? Climate is unfortunately a problem here and first hot day we had an my clutch has started slipping, I currently have the spec ss installed which was done only 10000kms ago, so definitely can’t say anything positive about spec but I will reserve comment until I can pull it out and have it examined properly.. I’m on 98 so mods aren’t anything too extreme definitely wasn’t expecting a failure so soon.

Any input wouid be appreciated.

spec PT clutch, about 2k miles on it. not a great clutch to drive around town and in traffic. very aggressive, much more than anticipated. im not sure why anybody would recommend this clutch on a car that is street driven. this is far from my first performance car and aggressive clutch.

major downfall, starting out from a stop the engagement point can move depending on how much throttle you give it. more throttle, clutch engages higher in the pedal throw. less throttle, itll start to engage closer to the floor. so good luck ever getting your muscle memory for it. sometimes it engages smooth, sometimes it engages very harshly and shakes the whole car violently a bunch of times ( chatter ).

kind of ruined some of the positive driving experience of the f80, in my opinion.

from some hard shifting ( and no doubt the very aggressive clutch ) i broke 3rd gear ( not good ) and will be swapping to a new transmission. SB55SST clutch plates going in ( good ), hoping for a better time with it.

nvh isnt much of a concern, i have a chassis mounted shifter which caused nvh even with the stock clutch. with the spec it does make quite a racket, but i dont mind

X clutch will be my next clutch for sure i hear great things. As far as temps go, not even a concern these things operate with incredibly high temp ratings - they are clutches lol. Super high friction surfaces generating tons of heat theyre engineered to take it

Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm glad I didn't buy this clutch, uniclutch on the way.

You're not the first to hear that the 3rd gear broke, how did that happen?

So after being super patient with spec, ive had it. Waited over 2 months for my twin disc, a nightmare and their customer service was very poor. now the car is apart again and I need the organic discs and they will not give me the part number for it. I've been waiting a week for a part number so I can BUY the discs from spec.

If you call spec the sales guy cannot look up part numbers for you, and the parts guy will not talk on the phone only via email, in which he will not reply after telling me he has the discs in stock. Its like they are playing a prank on me.

Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever got from a car parts company. Beyond frustrating. At this point im preparing to just call it a loss on the 2200$ clutch and order a ptb or something else. Or deal with a clutch i dont really like

To everybody reading this, id pass on buying any products from spec..

* as far as breaking 3rd gear, I was and have shifted the car pretty hard especially from 2nd to 3rd, numerous times. This clutch is very abrupt / zero slip, so I think it shock loads the drivetrain on a power shift. Its a m3 not a drag car, gotta keep that in mind. Im full bolt ons, e85, 585 rwhp / 550 rwtq.
