Smile New to BMW

Hi Everyone,

After many years of ownership of Aussie performance cars, I have made the shift to BMW.

I managed to find a nice 6M F80 Comp, and I am loving it so far -

Best things:
- The car looks just beautiful in the YMB Colour!
- Build quality is excellent.
- iDrive has lots of options to play with.
- In general a huge step up in the various gizmos (e.g. touch unlock).
- Phenomenal grip and handling.
- Good performance, however I am now looking at BM3 GTS tune!

Things that are not ideal:
- Large turning circle.
- Cold start sounds terrible (will look to code this away).
- The car occasionally doesn't want to re-start easily after A.S.S.

I am still learning lots about this car, and so far I am loving it!

Cheers, Jake.

Congrats on the purchase, they are amazing cars! YMB is the best colour, i am slightly biased though.

Well done on joining the club, pretty exciting cars aren’t they. I’m also new to the M3, but have had a few other BMWs over the years. Always wanted an M3 from E36 days, just the planet’s never aligned until now.

Congratulations on the A.S.S. ? Seriously though, get BM3(cold start delete), go catless DP, ditch the Pirellis and go Cup2 connect (you don't drive in rain, right?). Get all the trans, diff, dsc & suspension flashes done. Make it feel like a comp/gts etc.

Luckily, I am in Melbourne, so its all sunshine here!

OK, So I have now:

a) Got rid of the annoying start-up iDrive warning using Bimmercode.
b) Got rid of the ColdStart using BM3 (This is a must)
c) Flashed the M4 GTS Tune using BM3.
d) Configured downshift rev matching for all driving modes using BM3.
e) Configured valves always open in Sport/Sport+ using BM3.
f) Dropped in some K&N Filters.

I'm trying to workout whether I should go with a mid-pipe.

Loving the car - its a daily driver

Here's a few going head to head.

Australia stopped car manufacturing a few years ago, so it's all imports now.

How’d you find the K&N filters? Was going to go BMC myself but quite a few people saying the car lost a bit of low down torque using those type of filters.

I’m also researching mid pipes, AA looks like a good bet but not cheap getting it here, so VRSF the next best option, maybe.

Zero difference with the K&N Filters - although car already had the charcoal filters removed..
