Which F8x has iD6 with CarPlay?

I might be in the market for a new M3/M4 maybe beginning of next year.

I'd like to get one with CarPlay as I use Waze a lot (company car). My previous 2015 M4 didn't have the option for CarPlay.

Which LCI versions have this? Is there a definitive guide?

2017 has iDrive 5 with Carplay (optional)


2017+ any coder can code in full screen carplay for cheap if you don't have the option

2015-2016 has iDrive 4, and 2016 has NBT EVO. Need to go aftermarket, but 2016 Is an easier aftermarket route than 2015.

I'm picking up a 2018 M3 IDI 6.0. Do you know where to get the patch? Bummer-tech has one for $199 which seems a bit steep.

MY2015 is NBT - needs hardware swap to EVO.
MY2016 - build from 07/2015 till 06/2016 has NBT EVO ID4 - can be flashed to ID5/6 and activate CarPlay Fullscreen
MY2017, MY2018, MY2019, MY2020, MY2021 - has NBT EVO ID5/6 - can enable CarPlay/Fullscreen depends on software.
MY2019/MY2020/MY2021 - can enable CarPlay fullscreen without flashing - they all have newer software.

Remember guys once for all - iDrive 5 and iDrive 6 is CODING ONLY.

OPs question has been answered several times, but yes, 2018+ M3s.

Not to thread hijack but I have an 18 with IP6 and CarPlay -- As an Android guy I'm searching for the best option bring my Android ecosystem to my car. Initially I looked at MMI Prime box but BimmerTech's support team says my model year isn't supported as well as generic versions of the Prime box show support up to 2017 model. I'm still not completely sure why it's not compatible after searching the forums in depth.

My other option is Avin USA unit where I sign in to my apps using phone as hotspot and use Idrive is a pass through for OEM setup.

Interesting. As part of the order guide Carplay is a standard option, don't know anything about ID6 but my 2019 has ID6.

As a slight tangent, do you guys know if all versions of iDrive (that support CarPlay) handle Google Maps the same way?

I ask b/c my MY20 w/ iDrive 6 doesn't show my saved POIs when using Google Maps via CarPlay. On Chrysler's latest uConnect system, the saved POIs showed up perfectly, so it's definitely not a limitation of the phone or CarPlay itself... Curious if this is maybe different between iDrive versions.

Perhaps one of the coding options can make this happen if stock iDrive can't?

He is not in the US. It's standard in the US but not worldwide for that model year.
