I'm trying to understand the logic here... maybe I'm just missing something. Is he saying the balancer would fall off if the CBC failed? That would imply that all 8 bolts miraculously broke and would allow the balancer to fall off.

I'm aware that if you remove the crank hub bolt, it cannot be reused. I am about to have the capture plate installed. I just want to have the crank hub bolt, tightened 45 degrees/ or 1/4 turn, before installing the CBC. I'm aware some shops when installing new ones, tighten it "extra." What are your thoughts?

In addition to having to lock the entire engine to achieve this, the screw is for one use only, it stretches when it is tightened the first time. If you really want to do that, use a new screw, and make sure you do it in a workshop with the right parts to lock the engine |
