Info Needed..AGE DEMOGRAPHIC
![]() Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I've been prowling the forums for a while now researching and gathering as much info as I can in order to make the best decision upon purchasing a new car in the coming weeks. Long story short, my 335is is going to be out of warranty in November of this year, and I am in the market for a new car. Originally, I was holding out to find a great deal on a slightly used F10 M5. Well, the other day, I test drove a YMB F82 M4 and completely fell in love. I left the test drive smiling like a 5 yr old with a new happy meal toy haha. Anyway, what I am looking for here is, 1) How old are you M4 owners? I cant find any age demographic info 2) Were any of you in the market for an m5/m6 before the M4? 3) Regrets? thoughts? comments? I am 26 years old, and part owner of a restaurant, and my fear is that if I order an M4, I will feel like it isn't as much of a "mans car" as the M5 is (dumb, but we've all thought it). Last thing i want is to spend $80k and feel like its a boy racer. ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!! Regards, and drive safe, Brochop

It's boy racer-ish, get the m5, a gentle mans car.

My humble opinion is id take the newer more nimble coupe any day of the week.
At the age of 26 and no family I'm assuming, I would see no need for the M5's size. I also think the M4 is more of a head turner. |

There is nothing boyish (or boy-racer) about any ///M car.

M5 is more of an "old mans" car. And I dont mean that in a bad way.. To me, an M5 is something you get when you are a successful executive and are going to be having a bunch of suits in your car. The M4 is more sexy. The kind of a car a younger successful person might daily drive.
I see cars like Evos, and Civics, as boy racer cars... 99% of the "boy racer" types cannot afford a car like the M4 so I dont see that as a concern. Just my 2 cents...

Im 27 and have an M4 on order. I also contemplated moving to a 6 series coupe (or M6), but my reasoning has me favorably sticking with the M4. From the people here, and seeing one in person, nothing boyish about the car, at all. I also have a weakness in badge honor...which I need to work on... meaning I cant opt for a 6 series knowing theres an M6 out there, so I would HAVE to get the M6, and for my current needs, I cant justify making that jump.
In your case, I would tell you to stick with the M4 simply because I prefer the M4 for my needs. Yours may be different. |

I am 32, was in the market for a m5 last year but in the end I bought a Porsche cayenne GTS. However I never was really happy with the GTS, regretted it for most do the year and today I bought an M4 that the local dealer had on stock.
I wanted more fun when driving, a nimble car but still comfort when I want it. No better option then a m4 at this moment I think. My wife is a bit less happy since we have an one year old girl haha |

25, no kids, steady girlfriend and don't feel boy racer-ish at all; just act accordingly.
Although I'm only in an e92 m3 so take this with a grain of salt.

I was just like you man. In my twenties I felt like I needed to "grow up" and show I was succesful and jumped into an E60 then the F10 for nothing other than image so I get where you are coming from.
Eventually you feel the opposite and could care less about that and want to do what makes you happy. Now that may very well be an M5 for you but I am happy as hell in my new boy racer M4. You said last thing you want to do is spend 80k and feel like a boy racer but it made you smile like a 5 year old. Think you got your answer! |

You said it all righ there mate. do what makes you smile for those few minutes when you get in it at the beginning and end of the day before you have go to work, and be an adult. But if you really think age demo is important (I don't think it should) I'm 26 and my boss just ordered an M5 after I ordered the 4. Hope that helps. |
