Can you link the youtube videos? I have all the easy stuff coded, but have not done the bluetooth and LED anti-dazzle, because I wasn't exactly sure how to do the VO stuff.

I was able to finally figure everything out and code my own F80 M3 and man what a sense of accomplishment it was to DIY. I had gotten a quote from a place in SF Bay area but they wanted $185. Factor in what it would've cost me to drive out there and I would have easily spent over $300. I ended up saving myself some $$! Thanks to Shawn and OP for this post. At first I thought it was too complicated but once I did my first module, everything else was easy. My advice to other folks is to just take your time and watch the three vids in this thread along with one from Tokenmaster on youtube

I feel like such a noob but someone please help!
I downloaded the v56.lite - but it does not have the F8x data in there - where did you guys find that? Or did you download the 40GB (!) version? |

It is explained in the Instructions. F8x uses F20 Connection Target,.

When your car starts up in the morning, it high idles for like a minute or so to heat up the cats. In my E92 I was able to code that off. |

I am not aware of any coding for this.

New version of the software is out. Please help the contributors out on the original post by donating so they can continue to help the coding community.

I agree. Please make a donation, whatever the amount to show your appreciation for their hard work in helping out the BMW coding community. I saved a lot of money doing it myself and the advice I received from shawnsheridan was invaluable.

I just got done coding my car thanks to Shawn's help and this thread. Big thanks to everyone!
I think we should sticky this thread and add an F80/82/83 coding list .pdf |

I posted this in another thread but good to add to the overall list: - Easy Entry (Module: SM2 3000 EINAUSSTIEGSHILFE - Change "nicht_aktiv" to "Modus_FA_SLV")
Voila! Now, your seat retracts when you open the door and moves forward when you start the motor (and stops if you put the car in gear). so brilliant and saves you from ripping up the steering wheel and side bolster when you get out of the car and don't turn your hips like a 2 bit stripper. |

Does this mean if I bring my cable and laptop to Germany when I pick up the car, I can remove vmax within 10 hours?

As I see it there are a few issues. 1. I can't find any documentation on vmax changes but I read something in the forum for another car that you also need to modify a table to set the max speed in each gear. It may not be a simple change. 2. The recomendation is to run the engine or connect a charger when coding to prevent any voltage drops while programming. The DME module cannot be programmed with the engine running so needs a lithium compatible charger which works on german voltage - and somewhere to plug it in. 3. We may need a data update to program our cars - can we get that before the 10 hours? - not sure if anyone has coded an LCI yet. 4. Some codings require an unlock code - I strongly suspect this is one of them. Don't know where to get this (maybe not possible for US spec) - especially problematic given the 10 hour limit. Im not an experienced coder - this will be my first time - if anybody can help I'd be very grateful. I would like to try it. |

First, thanks to shawnsheridian for pointing the way to diy coding, and jnosol for this thread and posting starter guide and cheat sheet, as well as everyone else contributing!
Is everything in the f80 cheat sheet verified working on our cars? I just coded my car last night for the first time and had partial success. So wondering if maybe some of the codes don't work or I just missed something. Looks like I got legal disclaimers out, but auto folding mirrors, unlock car on shutdown, blinker in hud, increase triple blink, and no brake to start didn't work for me. FWIW it looks like my trip meter, dashboard cluster display, and hotkeys reset. M modes seem fine. And also I now have to hold down the brake and start button for the entire duration of engine turn over. Before I just had to momentarily hold the brake and tap start engine, didn't have to hold them down for the whole engine turnover. Any ideas on where I should troubleshoot first? I haven't tried none of those. I don't think it's applicable to all F80/F82/F83. Example, you can't code Euro Headlight if you don't have LED Light Package.

Hmm, maybe we should start a "confirmed on F80/F82" code cheat sheet. Perhaps a public google doc or something so everyone can contribute. Or should we just start a thread and have the OP update the first post?
